@Moonphase1@_6signxxx Believe me, if there was an easy way out a machine would've already been invented. Of course, there isn't. Majority of farms still need someone to operate the machine, someone to maintain it, or they just don't use machines because it's cheaper to have an army of workers.
@Runningvee33@UziCryptoo Lol, the fact that you're so quick to judge anything that isn't similar to you speaks more about you than anything else you might say or do. I've met tons of people that eat at McDonald's not because they can't afford anything else, but because they just like it. Shocking I know.
@LordToyotomi@Simon_Ingari Then you're very different from the people described in the post. The post is about a contractor, who has no right to overtime and the employer therefore will not pay overtime.
@H_Gick@Simon_Ingari We pay overtime. The last one that left, left 9 years ago. I'm not worried about being out of employees. No one leaves. No one shoots their mouth off like that original post either.
Manager: I have you scheduled for a meeting at 7 PM tomorrow.
Gen Z: Is my attendance mandatory?
Manager: Yes, we’re working with a client in another time zone.
Gen Z: Okay, I’m happy to shift my hours to accommodate.
Manager: Excuse me, no—you still start at 8 AM.
Gen Z: If I’m working in the evening, then I’ll start later in the day.
Manager: Okay, don’t watch the clock at this company. We work when we need to work.
Gen Z: I’m contracted and paid for 40 hours a week, so that is what I work.
Manager: That’s a career-limiting move. Tomorrow is a busy day; I’ll need you to start right promptly at 8:00 AM.
Gen Z: Alright then, I will take the lieu time later this week.
Manager: Again, that’s not how we operate at this company. You work hard when you need to, and you don’t watch the clock.
Gen Z: Again, I work for the hours I’m paid for, and since overtime is not an option, I’ll go ahead and adjust my hours this week to accommodate the shift in the schedule.
Manager: You’re not quite understanding the company culture we have here—we work all the time.
Gen Z: And you’re not understanding that just because that is the way you do things does not mean that is how I’m required to do things as well.
Manager: (Silence)
@UziCryptoo False. It’s not a high value job. It’s an entry level job. If you want a higher paying job. Continue your education and become more valuable. It’s YOUR decision to stay on the bottom rung of the ladder of life.
@oneflowhoeee_@UziCryptoo Capping prices doesn't work and instead drowns the economy. Source: I'm venezuelan, our government tried capping prices on some things years ago and it failed so badly that they rolled back the law.
@FideiDefensorX@UziCryptoo If they didn't exist, you wouldn't be able to eat at your local McDonald's. Sure, they shouldn't be able to live in a huge house or anything, but they should be able to at least be able to afford rent for a small apartment, groceries, and basic necessities.
@UziCryptoo Why? What have they done to make themselves more useful and valuable to society? You don't get to nope out of education and accountability and still expect to compensate the same as someone who has put in the work and effort.
@LordToyotomi@Simon_Ingari And soon enough you're out of employees. I do admit that if I were in the employee's position I'd ask for overtime pay or I'll start late.
@The_Crack_Emcee@Geniustechw That's an optimistic outlook on the situation and it's nice that people like you exist. Unfortunately, this didn't come out of nowhere. This happened literally because parents are refusing to parent properly. Specially parents with a privileged status.
The notice is discourteous. Parents should know this already, and it's not a restaurant's job to tell anyone how to raise their kids. If a kid is acting out, it is more than appropriate for the manager to explain to his guests that this might not be the appropriate venue for their children. But a blanket statement, presented at the front door as though parents are children themselves, is rudeness personified. I expect soon they'll be telling me how to cut my pie or drink my coffee because they've had "problems" with someone before.
@uwunetes And since it's Linux, it's dead simple, really: put an easy way to disable it. They need to expose an API, right? Usually that would be done with a kernel module which users can disable. Make it even easier to disable than that.
