2/2 How long will we keep burying our children, our brothers, our sisters, while the world watches in silence, pretending everything is okay? The Anglophone crisis in Cameroon has stolen thousands of lives. It has shattered dreams, silenced voices, and turned everyday moments like going home from work into fatal risks. And yet, we remain one of the most neglected crises in the world. Is this by design? Or are we just that unfortunate? In Japan, the population is shrinking because of low birth rates and an aging society. In Cameroon, ours is shrinking because of stray bullets, randomly meeting our sons, daughters, mothers, and fathers in the streets, at markets, on their way home from school or work. We are bleeding. Quietly. Consistently. And almost invisibly to the rest of the world. We cannot keep mourning in silence while global leaders turn their eyes elsewhere. We cannot normalize this level of pain. This is a call to action. To the international community: We need you to pay attention. To human rights organizations, regional leaders, and institutions of justice: We need you to act. To the media: We need you to report what’s really happening. The children we’re burying could have changed the world. The lives we’re losing do matter. We are not asking for pity. We are demanding dignity, peace, and the global solidarity every human being deserves. #EndAnglophoneCrisis #CameroonIsBleeding #OurLivesMatterToo

She wasn’t just beautiful, Amanda had an extraordinary voice that carried both warmth and grace. A young Cameroonian in her 20s, she was calm, soft-spoken, intelligent, and deeply ambitious. But what struck me the most about her was her quiet strength, how slow she was to anger, how thoughtful in her ways. She was my “small,” as we used to call it, and she meant so much to me. Last week, Amanda left work like any other day, heading home to Ndamukong. But around K-Town, violence, once again, interrupted ordinary life. Stray bullets found her path. The bike rider who was taking her home now lies in the ICU. Amanda never made it. She was taken from us, just like that. Now she lies in the morgue. About Ten lives, ten stories, were lost in Bamenda last week alone. And Amanda’s name has now been added to that ever-growing list. It’s another harsh reminder of what this crisis has cost us. We are walking through life carrying so much grief that sometimes we feel numb. We’ve been hurt to our core and yet it never stops. My heart is broken. But more than anything, I send my deepest condolences to Amanda’s family, especially her parents and her mom Delphine, who were not just her guides but her best friends. I can’t begin to imagine their pain. May Amanda’s soul rest in perfect peace. May her voice never be forgotten. May we never stop fighting for the peace she and so many others deserved. #EndAnglophoneCrisis 1/2

As I say in my latest op-ed for @lubbockonline international students in the US are a source of strength for America, not a vulnerability. Ive been a huge supporter of maximizing international students in the US since seeing how they helped America's image lubbockonline.com/story/opinion/…

"Why 4 Guineas? 🌍 The name comes from 'Guinée,' rooted in West African languages meaning 'land of the blacks.' European explorers applied it broadly, but colonization split the regions: Guinea 🇬🇳, Guinea-Bissau 🇬🇼, Equatorial Guinea 🇬🇶, & Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬 (added for the Pacific's resemblance to Africa)."

Why are there 4 separate countries with “Guinea” in the name?

Only tone-deaf Somalia sends a men's delegation to UN Women's Conference. Same gang that keeps promising one-person-one-vote elections and never manages to hold them, after scamming IC to pay. When will world wake up and recognize Somaliland's legitimacy? bbc.com/news/articles/…

Here is our commentary on how the 2024 Economics Nobel integrates colonialism into economics, while leaving a colonial worldview intact (with @SurbhiKesar & @devikadutt). To explain how & why they do this, we go back to the colonial origins of economics. epw.in/journal/2024/4…

My op-ed on Prez Biden's trip to Africa. Had to rewrite several times as trip was on, postponed, rescheduled. Hope it happens as US Prez needs to visit Continent. But this visit will be mostly symbolic - next US Admin will determine direction of policy. lubbockonline.com/story/opinion/…
