APPG on Haemophilia and Contaminated Blood

The APPG welcomes today's report on compensation from the @bloodinquiry. Sir Brian Langstaff's report concludes that wrongs were done and recommends that a compensation scheme be set up now. The Government must act quickly to implement these recommendations.

I welcome this landmark @bloodinquiry report. It shows how the biggest treatment disaster in NHS history became a huge scandal due to a 40 year cover-up. An apology will only be meaningful if action follows, first on compensation and then on how the state treats our citizens.

It's been two weeks since our mass lobby at Parliament - demanding immediate compensation for those infected and affected by contaminated blood. It's now almost a year since the Inquiry's recommendations and the government still won't to commit to paying full compensation.

Today I will be presenting a petition in Parliament that: 👉 Declares those infected and affected by the contaminated blood scandal have waited far too long for redress. 👉 Urges the Government to implement Sir Brian Langstaff’s recommendations without delay.

118 MPs from 10 political parties have written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer @jeremy_hunt ahead of next week's Budget Statement asking for @hmtreasury to allocate the funds needed to implement the April 2023 final @bloodinquiry recommendations on infected blood compensation.
