Taunton’s junior Aniyah Bailey collected her 100th hit in her brilliant high school career on a double in the fourth inning and had 1 hit (double) 1 walk, 1 RBI in the game. Kaylee Lopes led Taunton in hitting with 2 hits that included a triple, single and 1 RBI. Pitcher Ella Parece struck out 5 batters. Taunton scored it’s first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning on a double by Aniyah Bailey that scored Bella Bourque. La Salle scored 2 more runs in the fifth and 1 in the sixth to take an 8-1 lead. Taunton scored 1 run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a triple by Kaylee Lopes to center field. La Salle Academy’s pitching and exceptionally strong defensive plays including some dynamic plays made by Ella Daponte and Samantha Sell in the outfield were key factors in the win. Taunton lost its first game of the 2026 season and the historic, remarkable and sensational 65 game winning streak that dated back to 2023 came to an end and will forever be remembered as one of the best winning steaks in any sport in Massachusetts high school history.
