Ideal qualities of Anchor player and why Rodri won Balondor. - Back to goal scanning -Receiving in half turn - One touch passing -Spacial awareness of own player and opposition players - Triangle making -Tenaciouss -Tracking back and competitiveness -Slide tackles

@imsomadridista He is actually quite useless deep. Doesn't have anything required for a orchestrator type.

I can’t help but to notice how underused Valverde looks like playing this deep. Never was a fan of him playing the deeper role.

People don't recognise it yet but Cubarsi - Laporte - Rodri triangle is probably the greatest build up trio ever assembled by any team let alone a national team.

@EnchantressLayo And so far after Xabi we are out of Copa del Rey and now almost out of La liga. What is Madrid winning ? The CL run where Arbeloa so far did not have to play with both Mbappe and Vinicius which is the defensive issue which got Xabi sacked. Arbeloa is yet to face it.

@nas1rs They use their technique and brain to evade the press not your athletic freaks who tries abuses their body. Some one like Camavinga, Anderson uses shear athletic ability to evade press while Busquets an absolute twig was the best press resistant player ever using his technique

@Half_turn_zone Have you seen Xavi and iniesta running or ground covering stats? All those twists and turns they do to get out of press do you think any non athletic person can execute it?

@YoungRizz75 Iniesta was a twig , he was not outmuscling anyone in defence or offence. His game and entire Barca game was moulded in such a way to avoid physical duels by one touch passes to keep players away.

Their general level of technically superb players falling down ( along with rest of the world ) is definitely visible. What ever the current coaching methods , winning game models are ...they clearly aren't optimized for ball technique supremacy.

I'm sure there's a lot more nuance to this but my 5 seconds of thinking take is that Brazil's decline is also partly a result of how disgustingly this sport has become obsessed with "youngsters"

@RDrfx_RMCF We tried to change it this season and he instead chose to play acceleration game and got the coach sacked. He could have evolved as a player instead going for short term glory.

@abdule_10 Man I really worry for Vinicius after the burst of acceleration is gone. He had entirely modelled his game on that alone and it isn't even working in every set up.

Etikite and Olise are extremely top class players. They always makes the correct decisions. Vinicius has been trying to force plays and that doesn't work against Konate who is a physical match for him. Vini needs to reinvent his game a bit like Salah did.

@aa9media @RDrfx_RMCF Camavinga is interesting and on paper would be the best pairing with Rodri but I doubt his passing ability . He would receive from Rodri and then try to carry and win foul, rinse and repeat. Back to square one. Rodri now can't be left alone as single pivot with Bellingham

@aa9media @RDrfx_RMCF I don't think it is ideal either. Tchouameni is worse at tracking back and defending transition hence I think this move should be only during build up and in possession Tchoua should stay back and Rodri should be the one ahead.

I actually think Rodri X Tchouameni can work together if Rodri is played a bit more advanced a bit towards the left ,So Tchouameni can cover the large spaces

@Loconteee Also Alaba plays in a position where quick mobility is way too important. Rodri's defensive positioning / ability is more about brain than about mobility.

Alaba and Rodri paradox by Madrid fans is just idiotic. Alaba was playing high intensity football since 2021— playing/starting as high-end LB, moved to midfield and CB, with huge minutes under his belt and from a league/team that required too much. Rodri? Not so much.

@LamdarhriAchraf He is not dominant on the ball in Stuttgart though. Stiller takes the build up role and Chema has been on the bench and karaozor has been the starter. I think his defensive game is top class. His passing game and carrying game is still developing.

Chema Andrés does similar things to Rodri. Anticipation, proactive, clean way of tackling (to retain the ball), reads the situation well to mop up loose and second balls, aerial threat offensively & defensively. Plays from first-time touches, plays with disguise, scanning ability is elite, pausa, controls the rhythm, never hides from the ball, always a passing option, smart off-ball movements down the channels, can play as #8, I've seen him ping passes similarly to Rodri to players running beyond.

@RDrfx_RMCF @aa9media He does but then during counters he will jog back to our box and get called slowmeni. There is a player who is not complete and alot of variables needs to be correct inorder for him to succeed. Tchouameni is that.

@Half_turn_zone @aa9media Funny enough Tchouameni can actually even move up to the box pretty hell he somewhat looks better when he is allowed to move forward

@AsterNx08 @LaLigaMichael Prime casillas beats Courtois on one on one and penalties and it isn't even close actually. It was extremely hard to score 1 Vs 1 against prime casillas. ( From 2001 to 2010)

@LaLigaMichael Yo just a question Isn't courtois a better 1v1 than casillas? I didn't get to watch the prime casillas but from clips it certainly feels

Let’s build the perfect Liga keeper, limited to the last ~20 years. • Box defense/aerial ability: Courtois • 1v1: Casillas • Reflexes: Oblak • Penalties: Diego Alves • Ball-playing: Ter Stegen What about from other leagues/your time as a fan?
