Does anyone else get tired of hearing about inequity from institutions and individuals who directly contribute to it’s existence? Me too. Especially in education– I beg my peers to call it out when they see it. Specifically for those with no voice. #ElonEd

A5: Revise dress codes. Stop tracking students by ability. Adequately fund all schools. Value all languages and dialects. Use #UDL. Allow redos and retakes. Do not grade homework. Apologize when you are wrong. Laugh often. #ElonEd

A3: I felt most cared for in my hardest times in middle school! It's the main reason I care for that age so much. There is so much development physically, mentally, and emotionally during adolescence!! It's integral to have empathy as an educator! #eloned

A2: I realized how important it is to get involved in the wider school community. The little things like attending sports events or going to the haunted house that your students work at helps students know that you care. This goes a long way in building a community #ElonEd

What are some challenges that teachers face when trying to build community through technology? One that I’ve discovered through my research is a lack of equitable resources for all students and teachers. #ElonEd

@ammymeagher Agreed! Why flood our students with practice they don't have time for? Then punish when they cannot get it done! I don't just want my students to be academic weapons but also human beings with interests and goals :)

@Doug_Lemov What technique from your book, "Teach Like A Champion," should my Assessment class (EDU 3150) focus on when thinking about grading? And to anyone else who has read it, whats your favorite technique? #eloned

What does your schools grading system look like? Do you like it? Educators AND students, what do you think? #eloned #edu3150

Any recommendations of books for educators to gain more insight on equitable grading? Currently reading "Grading for Equity" by @JoeCFeldman #eloned #edu3150

Make an insult but make it mathematical. I’ll go first: Are you the sum of data points divided by the number of data points because you’re mean.

@Doug_Lemov is speaking so much truth in "Teach Like A Champion 3.0". He says "The opportunity to sit in classrooms where one can cautiously pursue an interest in scholarly endeavor is not good enough" #eloned #edu3150

We reward points to our students when they demonstrate a behavior we think is important. So, what do you reward points for? #eloned #edu3150

@DavisMarthanne And a great way to start building relationships between your students too! Creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable participating in potentially tough discussions is key ;)
