Ted Byfield of Arizona, honoring his father, Floyd, a B-24 "Big Noise from Kentucky" crewman. Downed on May 5, 1944, but undeterred, Floyd's spirit, alongside the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland and 🇷🇸 locals, epitomized resilience. Rescued by the OSS on August 4, 1944.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Col. (Ret.) Carl Walpusk, one of the last surviving airmen rescued in Operation Halyard. Shot down over Ploesti, Romania in 1944 while flying his B-24 “Never a Dull Moment”, his bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten 🇺🇸🇷🇸

Milivoje Lazic attends the #OperationHalyard anniversary every year. His father Jovan was the commander of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland Temnic Brigade. The Lazic family hid eight 🇺🇸 aviators in 1944.

🇺🇸Sgt James Nichols shows his souvenirs from the escape through Bosnia. His plane was hit over Sarajevo on Nov 7 1944. Nichols, Hall, and Miller bailed out, but Miller's parachute failed. Survivors were waited by the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland and sent to the #OSS Halyard Team
