@hambym01 Well if that is true isn't the SAVE Act pointless? It will just be deliberately sabotaged by a newly hired Deep State bureaucrat hired to implement it wearing a tween jacket with patches on the sleeves and a Skull and Bones patch.

@Hamiltonstears Wouldn’t be the first time some bureaucrat deliberately sabotaged a law by going beyond the intent thereof.

@Hamiltonstears Explain why these were denied registration. How’d you know they were “eligible” if they couldn’t produce proof of eligibility? How did election officials implement this? Intentionally stricter than what was required? Rejecting documents they knew were fine, just to make problem

Proof? Just a little. That's all I want. I have provided 5 state studies that say illegals don't try and register (why would they). All I get is unsupported MAGA assurances that thousands of illegals vote and are encouraged to vote. One would think with DOJ and FBI at his disposal even Trump could uncover some evidence of this plot and start prosecutions for these federal crimes. But there are no prosecutions.

@Hamiltonstears Illegals vote in California with the blessing of the state's Democrat super majority. So, quit lying. Sanctuary states encourage and assist illegals to vote.

Illegals don't vote. Common sense tells you that, as does the data. Cotton conjures up millions of illegals that get across the border and suddenly say to themselves "Today I think I will chose to interact with a government which will deport me if they figure out who I am, lie on a from about who I am, thereby becoming a criminal, and use a fake ID so I can do what 50% of Americans don't bother to do - vote. It's just plain dumb and stupid to think illegals would risk getting caught by trying to vote. But you know the Leader. And then there is the data. 5 states have looked for non-citizens that managed to get registered. Utah found 1 out of 2.1 million voters; Georgia found 20 out of 8.2 million, Michigan found 3 in one county out of 724K voters, Louisiana found 390 out of 2.9 million (shame on you Mister Speaker), and Idaho found 36 out of 1 million. Illegals don't vote. They have more common sense than the Leader.
Leader John Thune@LeaderJohnThune

Only American citizens should be able to vote in American elections. This should be a straightforward issue, but the Democrats think otherwise.

Well, Mr. Spidey, Kanas has to defend its SAVE Act in court (Fish v. Schwab) and one defense was to demonstrate that "lots" of illegals were registering to vote. They could not do it. Since you "know" "thousands" of illegals are registering to vote (deciding not to worry about getting caught and deported, and committing a crime, perhaps you would bless us all by sharing your evidence.

This is wild. People in *every single one* of the top US allies now think it's better to depend on China than the US. The global balance of power is clearly tilting away from the US and toward China.

Hegseth: "We're still dealing with the environment Joe Biden created—depleting our stockpiles and sending them to Ukraine instead of our own military. Every time we face a challenge, it traces back to 'Well, sent it to Ukraine.'" It looks like they’re just going to blame Ukraine whenever anything goes wrong now, doesn’t it? It’s depressing to watch because while this administration will eventually leave office, a segment of Americans will keep hating Ukraine without even remembering why.

Despite Hegseth’s bravado this morning, the last 24 hours are clearly the worst for Trump’s folly, with massive refineries hit in multiple countries. The impact on the US and global economy is going to be brutal and affect every American. This war is a disaster.

All but 13 states require ID to vote. That is not the issue with the SAVE Act. It is the requirement to have a passport or birth certificate to register. Kansas adopted a SAVE Act law requiring one of those to register to vote, and 12% of eligible applicants (38,000) were denied registration over the next two years until the law was struck down.

Watching Trump teeter on the edge of blowing up the world economy because of a combination of hubris, strategic incoherence, mendacity and outright stupidity, might be the most extraordinarily depressing thing I have observed in my entire life, or read about in any other period.

Every US intelligence assessment on Iran- including Hegseth's January "National Defense Strategy" - did not identity an imminent threat of any kind, but Trump takes us to war on the recommendation of two real estate salesmen and a weekend talk show host. He's an idiot.

Trump on why he agreed to attack Iran alongside Israel, “based on what Steve [Witkoff], Jared [Kushner] and Pete [Hegseth] were telling me, Marco [Rubio] also involved, I thought Iran would attack us.”

Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is down by about 97%. That’s a huge problem for the world economy because nearly 20% of the global oil supply flows through the Strait. What makes it worse is that the oil that is flowing is on Chinese ships and the transactions are in Chinese yuan. That’s not good for the United States or for the U.S. dollar. This is only the latest in a long list of actions taken by Trump that weaken the U.S. economy and our standing abroad. Over time, it's impossible for the world not to question if America should play such a central role in the global economic system. The U.S. benefits from global commerce because American dollars are often involved on one side or the other, but the dollar’s dominance is not a promise and the reserve currency can change over time. If the world begins to transition away from the dollar, it will be viewed as one of the greatest geopolitical blunders of all time. Costs and inflation would rise, which could raise interest rates — all of that is more money out of the pockets of families.  All of this risk and instability could've been avoided if we had a president who considered the fact that Iran could disrupt the Strait of Hormuz before launching a major war. I traveled through the Strait when I was aboard the USS Midway in the First Gulf War. In that war, we had a clear strategy and goal from the start, and we executed our mission without getting caught up in a long, bloody war that cost thousands of American lives. I worry that's where this war with Iran is headed if things don't change. Hundreds of American servicemembers have been injured and more than a dozen have lost their lives already. I don't want to see any more.
