If it was white kids looting shops en masse, forcing the closure shops and attacking emergency workers — imagine the front pages ! Not one MSM outlet had Clapham on the front pages, not one.

@Davidthurgood @MrDomSmith That's a good point he has always played in a counter attacking team for us .. I rate Bowen and actually think he should go but that's partly because he can play centre forward as well.. pretty much as well as the other back ups to Kane

@MrDomSmith Bowen issue is that he plays for a team that's game is based on counter attacks. How many games a season does Bowen play where his job is to breakdown a low block or a team that's happy to sit and defend, 1 in 10?

Jarrod Bowen is above Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke for goal contributions in the battle for the England right-wing position What Bowen brings is different, but very desirable. The case for the #WHUFC captain outlined: standard.co.uk/sport/football…

@UrmstonMeadows @mda732 @Millar_Colin What a ridiculous take... Look at our results in the league after Alan Irvine left . Moyes left by mutal consent.. also look at the reception Moyes still gets from West ham fans.. if it wasn't for West ham he probably wouldn't be managing in the PL. .

David Moyes doing an outstanding job at Everton. The second time - two decades apart - he's taken the club from relegation fringes to possible UCL contention without serious investment. Doesn't speak the LinkedIn language or hide behind philosophy talk so he goes under the radar.

@Millar_Colin @mda732 Thank you glad I'm you haven't just slagged the club off.... Things were on a downward spiral and it was a mutual parting . Look at the results after A Irvine went, if it wasn't for West Ham he probably wouldn't be at Everton..

@mda732 He did an excellent job at West Ham but think after the European success it made sense to mutually move on. The club needed him more than vice versa but not sure what would have come next.

VAR should be a background tool for major mistakes. Each manager gets one challenge per game, if successful they keep it, if not it's lost. The time and energy wasted on VAR in matches and discussing it is ridiculous and goes against what should be a free-flowing sport.
Henry Winter@henrywinter

Premier League fans deliver damning verdict on VAR. 75% of 7,946 fans polled by the Football Supporters’ Association “didn’t support the use of VAR”. Too long, too forensic, too much of a joy killer, fans say. Findings shared with Premier League and PGMO. 92% of fans surveyed “agreed” that “VAR has removed the spontaneous joy of goal celebrations” (82% of them “strongly agreed”). 85% of match-going fans “strongly disagreed” with the notion that “VAR makes watching football more enjoyable”. And 83% of those watching on TV. 85% of match-going fans “strongly disagreed” that “VAR decisions are generally resolved in a reasonable amount of time”. Echoed by 83% of those watching on TV. Only 18% agreed that “VAR has improved the overall accuracy of refereeing decisions”. 72% are “concerned about the expansion of VAR beyond its current remit”. 79% “strongly disagreed” with the suggestion “that the match-going experience is better with VAR”. 67% “strongly agreed” that they preferred “watching games that are played without VAR to games with VAR”. 84% “strongly support” goal-line technology. 34% “strongly opposed” to the idea of a challenge system (two per game per team). “These findings back up the FSA's previous survey in 2021, where fans expressed misgivings about the introduction of VAR,” says Thomas Concannon, @WeAreTheFSAPremier League network manager. “The vast majority are reporting the same concerns five years on - the loss of spontaneity when celebrating goals, and an overall worsening of the match-going experience. We have shared the survey results with the Premier League and PGMO, and look forward to discussing its findings with them.” Fans surveyed of all PL clubs and all ages (Under-18 to 65+).

@HammersimonK @TheAdrianDurham The only argument against VAR I will accept is that the delayed decisions ruin the spontaneity of celebrating goals, as long as you also accept that it still happens occasionally even without VAR. I've celebrated a late winner this season in League One that was later chalked off

Nobody's forgotten what it was like before because 1) we're not stupid and 2) we watch football that isn't Premier League so we still appreciate the joy of football without VAR. Also VAR doesn't have to be here to stay. That's Webb's mantra in briefings & it's an insult to fans.
Henry Winter@henrywinter

@Bigalanh5 it's here to stay, people forget what it was like before. it's now a case of getting back to its original intent - clear and obvious

@bwfc_elliot @TheAdrianDurham Exactly right... No one when remembers when var makes the right decision for they're team... Managers and fans are soon quick to turn if they perceive it to be wrong.... I find the blame culture in the PL putting me off rather than var itself which I agree is not perfect

@TheAdrianDurham You define "working" as every single decision being correct with no controversy at all. That's impossible I define "working" as significantly reducing the number of terrible decisions, which it undoubtedly does

@NeilPayne @brucemillington No chance will interest in football diminish. TV viewing will see to that.crowds may go down then prices will go down.. var will have no impact in popularity going forward. I've gravitated to watching non League football because I find the PL unappealing but not due to var.

If they don’t scrap VAR in the face of such overwhelming evidence that fans detest it they have only themselves to blame when interest in football dwindles.
