Watching recent hacks in crypto, especially in Solana is a reminder that crypto security is no longer just about smart contract bugs. Sometimes the system breaks through workflow, coordination, permissions, and human trust layers around the code. That matters even more in the agentic economy. If agents are going to move money, trigger actions, manage treasury, trade, and operate on our behalf, the attack surface gets bigger, not smaller. An agent with financial access is basically software with permission to make irreversible decisions. It has to be: can it be trusted, constrained, verified, and safely delegated? That’s a big part of why I’m building Bento @bento_guard I think the next generation of crypto infra needs better trust and security rails for agent-driven actions, not just faster execution. Because once agents touch money, security becomes the product.

What changed: • The rsETH exploit quickly spilled into @aave and broader DeFi TVL damage • The market read it as cross-protocol contagion, not an isolated failure • Hidden validator, multisig, and bridge assumptions became visible all at once • Aave moved fast to freeze both rsETH and WETH across markets • rsETH on Ethereum reaffirmed to be backed by underlying assets, but usage was restricted • rsETH frozen across V3 and v4 → no deposits, no collateral usage • WETH reserves frozen across @ethereum, @arbitrum, @base, @Mantle_Official, and @LineaBuild Estimated bad debt: ~$177M–$200M in WETH pool (V3) ~$5B liquidity stuck, ~$5.4B ETH withdrawn in panic → utilization spiked hard Composability keeps multiplying distribution, but it also multiplies blast radius. The next wave of trust in DeFi will come less from headline APY and more from whether protocols can explain their dependency stack before stress exposes it for them.
