Think of fanatical people. They’re overbearing, insensitive, and harsh. Why? It’s not because they are too Christian but because they are not Christian enough. They are fanatically zealous, but they are not fanatically humble, sensitive, empathetic, or forgiving—as Christ was.

When our Lord stretched forth his hand to heal a leper, there was no evangelistic strategy attached to the act. It was a pure outflow of the divine love into the world, and needed no further justification. Such should be the Church’s deeds of service.

There can never be a culture-free gospel. Yet the gospel, which is from the beginning to the end embodied in culturally conditioned forms, calls into question all cultures, including the one in which it was originally embodied.

If I could hear Christ praying for me in the next room, I would not fear a million enemies. Yet distance makes no difference. He is praying for me. — Robert Murray M’Cheyne

The upside-down nature of Gospel “The way up is down. The way to lead is to serve. The way to get happiness is to seek happiness not for yourself but for others. The way to be truly rich is to give wealth away.” T. Keller

T.Keller

As ministers of the Lord Jesus it is extremely important that we always remember that we are replaceable, but that the message that we proclaim - the Gospel - is not.
