Are you struggling in your Christian journey? Because of the complexity of our nature and the struggles we face in this world, it is not always easy to be a virtuous person. Yet St. Thomas Aquinas offers a word of encouragement. The virtues are connected. As we cultivate one virtue, we can expect the other virtues to grow stronger within us over time. How does this help us? While we have a tendency to focus on our vices, we should also take encouragement in the growth of virtue within us, even if that virtue seems unrelated to overcoming those particular vices. We can be strengthened to pursue virtue further, knowing that as one virtue grows, the others grow with it, weakening our vices and leading us toward final happiness in the presence of God. Watch the full conversation as Fr. Gregory Pine with the @dominicanfriars and @MattMBarrett explore virtue, the Christian pursuit of happiness, and the meaning of moral theology: credomag.com/2026/07/what-i…

During my time as McDonald Agape visiting professor at Dominican House of Studies I truly enjoyed getting to know Fr Gregory Pine. We can so use his insight into virtue, especially prudence. (Plus, he knows CS Lewis's thought quite well) youtu.be/n6_4OfjejWc

Virtue facilitates happiness. @MattMBarrett joins Fr Gregory Pine! Virtue is not a dreadful obligation or mere duty, but the formation of the soul to love the good until choosing good becomes natural, even joyful. youtu.be/n6_4OfjejWc @ThomisticInst @dominicanfriars @PFIC_DHS

If you are interested in becoming an Anselm Fellow, visit our website. theanselmhouse.com The 2027 prospectus is coming soon. Each year we accept a select few to join us. Fellows participate in liturgy and sacraments at St Aidan’s Anglican Church here in Kansas City and can receive seminary credit for their fellowship through @TASeminary. I wish I had something like this when I was learning theology.

Recently, we listened to the bishops from the council of Chalcedon (don’t miss the icon at the end) to contemplate the incarnation of our Lord.

Investing personally in the lives of Anselm Fellows has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. We gather for evening prayer, a meal to form virtue, and Socratic dialogue over the Great Tradition. @TheAnselmHouse is a special place, a monastic haven of sorts.

Bryan is president @TASeminary
Credo@CredoMagazine

C.S. Lewis warned that modern life and education were making “men without chests” who lacked ordered desire and rightly formed love. On September 19th, Dr. Bryan Hollon, president of @TASeminary, will show how the Prayer Book answers that crisis by forming the affections through worship and prayer. September 19th at 7:00pm St. Aidan’s Anglican Church Open to the public. Q&A to follow. Childcare provided. Register here: eventbrite.com/e/men-without-…

To see God is something great still; just as, in the royal court, he is greater who not only takes part in the banquet, but also sees the face of the king. But the supreme dignity in the royal house is that of the King's son. -Thomas Aquinas

What does it mean to seek a good name—not for our own glory, but for the glory of God? This question was at the heart of Dr. Matthew Lee Anderson's keynote at the inaugural Anglican Formation Network Summer Conference, where students, pastors, scholars, and ministry leaders gathered at Trinity to explore catechesis and the future of Anglican formation. 🔗 bryanhollon.substack.com/p/formed-for-g… @mattleeanderson

Something profound is conveyed when we kneel to receive Jesus’ body and blood. We stretch out your hands not to take but to receive this means of grace. This is the posture of a sinner. My substack article (along with video of my homily @TASeminary). open.substack.com/pub/matthewbar…

I smile at the way we elaborate what we are asking God for, as if he doesn't know what we are up to or as if we are teaching him (!) what we are looking for. It's crazy. We are really just talking to each other in those kind of prayers. -Fr. John Guest
Trinity Anglican Seminary@TASeminary

The Rev. Dr. John Guest shares about the beginnings of Trinity and how Bishop Alf Stanway approached prayer as they began a seminary that would form leaders for mission. Today is the feast day of Irenaeus of Lyons! "Almighty God, who strengthened servant Irenaeus to defend thy truth against every blast of vain doctrine: Keep us, we pray, steadfast in your true religion, that in constancy and peace we may walk in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen." —Lesser Feasts and Fasts

Exodus 3-4 is epic, even wild. I delivered the homily on everything from I AM WHO I AM, a citadel for God's simplicity, to bitter Moses withholding the sacrament from his son (!) to the theophany of the burning bush prefiguring the virgin's womb (Gregory of Nyssa). on.soundcloud.com/3asfhm2I1BAlBg… More homilies to come from Exodus. I love preaching the Old Testament.

Writing this book had a profound influence on me becoming Anglican, submitting myself to a tradition that abides by bishops and councils of the one holy catholic and apostolic church. @ZonderAcademic just told me my book is almost 60% off this week. Enjoy! a.co/d/07kwNl4B
