As exciting as it is to have the chance to see this beautiful rare bird, pls can we ask - be mindful & respect its space & presence, putting the interests of the wryneck first. It is a photo for you but it could be the difference between life & death for the wryneck. Thank you 🕊

IMPORTANT THREAD; It’s come to our attention that there have been incidents of a minority of people flushing, playing bird song & disturbing the #WarrenFarm wryneck these last few days for photos. Pls take note; here are the reasons why these behaviours can be harmful...

No sign of the wryneck, but a lovely yellow wagtail as compensation. Fingers crossed for tomorrow morning. (I might need to get an actual camera) #wryneck #warrenfarm @HanwellNature

@johnshunt1 @MarkBravery The wryneck will be Scandinavian & needs as much time feeding as it can get to lay down fat for the next migration which will take it to Iberia. If everybody flushed him out during his time here it would lessen his chances, it’s just something we don’t want to encourage. 🕊🌿

@HanwellNature @MarkBravery 2/2, I discussed the possibility of an organised flush with the other birders present which would allow everyone to see the bird & then leave it in peace. This was executed well everyone saw the bird & then left leaving the bird to go about its business without further disturbance

@johnshunt1 @MarkBravery Great photos @johnshunt1 thank you for sharing them with us. Pls can we ask you & others not to flush the wryneck out. As exciting as it is to have such a rare bird here & we understand the desire to photograph it pls allow it to feel safe. He likes to be sneaky but he will show!

@MarkBravery Thanks Mark it was hard work today this was after an organised flush & it sat up in the trees for no more than 10 mins after which it went missing again.

The wryneck that was seen at Warren farm. When was it first reported. It would be great to know for how many days it has been seen since. Thank you. @HanwellNature

@Rob_Mule @kooperthequick @LondonBirdClub .@Rob_Mule There’s a small car park on Windmill Lane where you can walk up the drive. Or you can park near The Fox Pub on Green Lane and cross the canal / train track / gate climb (sounds a lot but takes 5mins!). Last option is to park on Trumper’s Way & cross said train track 👍🏻
