@MaximeBernier Actually everyone should be able to carry any weapons of their choice for self-defense, handguns or knives. Police are not always there and it’s human right to be able to defend yourself

We had a productive day of meetings to wrap up our annual meeting of Canada’s Premiers in PEI for the Council of the Federation. Canada’s Premiers called on the federal government to implement more flexible and sustainable funding frameworks for health care and child care to best meet the unique needs of each province. We’re also focused on tackling the youth unemployment and developing our vast energy resources to generate long-term wealth for all Canadians. After our closing press conference, I joined Canada’s Premiers to sign an important MOU with Rick Hansen @WheelsInMotion to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities across the country. Then we finished off today with a beautiful Gala hosted by Premier Rob Lantz @RobLantz ahead of our First Ministers Meeting tomorrow.

@Gray_Mackenzie Wouldn’t it be funny if Brookfield was found to be one of the recipients of said economic development funds. Carney busy lining his pockets on both sides of the border

The text of the Gordie Howe Bridge deal has been released, and it backs up our reporting from last week. #cdnpoli Canada will give the US 50% of the revenues, after expenses to operate the bridge for 15 years. That money will go into “a United Sates-Canada Economic Development Fund, established and solely controlled by the Government of the United States.” That calculation does not include Canadian debt payments on the bridge, despite Canada paying $6.4B to build the bridge and the US/Michigan putting up $0 - “Canada and the United States will reasonably agree on the objects of the United States-Canada Economic Development Fund, which will be for the benefit of the United States and trade between Canada and the United States.” - The US government needs to give consent if tolls increase by more than 10% in one year or tolls increase or decrease below “comparable regional crossings” This is the clause that would theoretically benefit the owners of the ambassador bridge, who are noted Trump donors #cdnpoli gordiehoweinternationalbridge.com/proposed-agree…
Mackenzie Gray@Gray_Mackenzie

The US will receive money collected from the Gordie Howe Bridge, prior to Canada recouping the full $6.4 billion it paid to build it, two senior government sources have told Global News. This is despite Mark Carney saying the US would get what was "left over" after Canada serviced debt on the bridge, which the Americans contributed $0 to. The two sources told Global News, the new 15 year agreement stipulates Canada will get 100% of the revenue from the bridge, cash that will be used to pay for things like snow removal and other maintenance costs but not for debt servicing. The money left over, will be split 50/50 with the Americans, who have agreed to put their cut, into an American controlled regional economic development fund. The original deal signed in 2012, said that Canada was to receive 100% of the money from the bridge, until they were made whole for fronting the entire cost of the crossing, a timeline that was estimated to stretch over 50+ years. Once the 15 year side deal is completed the Liberals say the original financial terms come back into force but they have not released the text of what they say is an "agreement in principle" to back up any claims up. On Thursday, Carney said that Canada is "not splitting the tolls of the bridge. It is an agreement for 15 years to split net revenues. Splitting of tolls, any sharing of the toll, won’t happen until all of the debt is repaid." While Carney is correct in saying Canada is not splitting tolls, the overwhelming major of the revenue from the Gordie Howe Bridge, comes from the tolls it collects, revenue Canada is set to share with the US. Both sources indicated it's expected bridge expenses will exceed revenue for at least the first six years, meaning neither side would get money during that period, but that timeline could fluctuate based on the amount of traffic on the bridge #cdnpoli

Personal story: I grew up in a catholic family forced to go to church every Sunday. The truth is I thought it was incredibly boring. The priests were so monotone. In all my time in church I don't think anyone ever explained the gospel too me. Traditions and rituals was all I knew and I didn't like it. At 17 I was finally allowed to choose if I wanted to attend church or not. Obviously I chose to walk away... You know what comes next, a life of ruin created by my own stupidity. This went on for years until one evening I couldn't take what my life had become. I cried out "God what's going on". I picked up my laptop and there was a video about Jesus on it, I took my time but eventually watched it. They were talking about Jesus like I had never heard before. This led me to reading the Bible for myself. Wow it was way different than I had thought. I started researching philosophy & science, the evidence (although not completely conclusive) strongly indicated God was real. I'll skip the details but I found my way to Jesus, not the catholic church but a relationship. I have been in & out of different churches ever since. I haven't found a church where I belong but I have Jesus. I guess many people have a similar story. Just thought I would share. God bless!

Good news: Insurance is like, "Yes, you're covered. And we'll send you a payout right away." Bad news: The reason why they're so quick on the payout is that they have decided I'm way above policy limits for damage.

This is a massive project for Fort McMurray and our entire region. The Pathways Project alone will create thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in private investment in rural Alberta and the northeast. It will also ensure we continue to lower the carbon intensity of our oil while still increasing production because in Alberta, it is possible to do both. When paired with a new West Coast oil pipeline and other pipeline projects, Pathways will help unleash the true economic potential of the oilsands. These projects will attract further investment, create tens of thousands of jobs in Alberta and secure lasting prosperity for future generations. #abpoli #pipelines #ccus #pathways #oilsands buff.ly/c0LdXSU

WATCH: @MayorOliviaChow just published a video calling on Safety Minister @Gary_SRP to focus on "stemming the flow of illegal American guns into Toronto streets." Isn't that what Liberals claimed all their gun bans and "tougher gun control laws" were for? Guess someone lied.
Mayor Olivia Chow 🇨🇦@MayorOliviaChow

This weekend was a difficult one. Right now, families are mourning loved ones or helping them recover from injuries. The pain caused by gun violence is unimaginable. I have every confidence in the @torontopolice and have spoken to the Federal Public Safety Minister, urging him to work with his American counterpart to stem the flow of illegal guns into our streets. The spirit of Toronto is resilient. We will not let reckless criminals stop our tradition of outdoor street festivals.

Why did Jesus weep? Most people say it was because Lazarus died. But Jesus already knew Lazarus was about to walk out of that tomb. Before the miracle, He prayed: "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me... I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that You sent Me." -John 11:41–42 So here's my question... Why do you think Jesus wept? Let's open our Bibles.

Let's keep this respectful. Do you think going to church is necessary to worship God, or can faith be practiced outside of a church building? ⛪🙏
