Hello 2026! We're excited to be back in action and begin this year with fresh energy and a renewed commitment to our mission of working with government, the private sector, and civil society to unlock opportunities and break down the barriers that keep millions of young South Africans unemployed. This year, we aim to build on the success of SA Youth—a single national platform connecting young people with jobs, skilling interventions and self-enterprise opportunities. With over 5 million young people supported and 1.5 million earning opportunities enabled thus far, we have seen that through bold leadership, shared responsibility, courageous partnerships, and the potential of young people, we can help shape a more inclusive and economically vibrant South Africa. To all our valued stakeholders and partners, here’s to another year of collaboration, innovation, and impact! #SAYouth #RecruitOnSAYouth

This year’s theme for International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025, “Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress, calls on all of us to remove barriers, shift mindsets, and ensure the full inclusion, participation, and leadership of persons with disabilities in every part of society. Today, we at Harambee reaffirm our commitment to building a labour market where young persons with disabilities can access skills, opportunities, and dignified work. Over the past year, we have strengthened disability inclusion across our initiatives: • The Harambee Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme is helping drive disability inclusion, with young people with disabilities representing 7% of all participants since inception. • The GBS and Digital Jobs programme is committed to ensuring that young people with disabilities are included - with 1.5% of the 200,000 work opportunities targeted specifically to be accessible to them by 2030. We are also proud to partner with organisations like BPESA, who are driving disability inclusion in the GBS sector. This year, they launched the BPESA’s Guide to Hiring and Retaining Youth with Disabilities - a roadmap for organisations committed to enhancing disability inclusion in the workplace. 📘 Download it here: lnkd.in/dD5WZ9CV #IDPWD #InclusiveHiring #ImpactSourcing #BPESA #SAYouth

Today, on Heritage Day, we celebrate the richness of South Africa's rich tapestry of cultures and traditions. We also reflect on Harambee’s unique culture, which is rooted in inclusivity, integrity, and collaboration - the “Harambee Way of Working.” WHAT we do is important, but HOW we do it is just as critical. We are dedicated to fostering a culture where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered. Diversity is our strength; it fuels our growth and creativity, enabling us to collaborate with people and partners from across the economy to innovate solutions for the youth unemployment challenge in South Africa. #HeritageDay2025 #SAYouth #EmploySAYouth #SouthAfrica

This Nelson Mandela International Day, what if your greatest act of service was hiring smart? As we reflect on Madiba’s legacy and the 2025 theme: “It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity”, we’re reminded that inclusive hiring isn’t just good business, it’s a nation-building strategy. At SA Youth, we believe employers hold the power to unlock potential and create lasting change ...one opportunity at a time. 📷 Find out more and join us at partners.sayouth.org.za - Solving youth unemployment through partnerships. #EmploySAYouth #SAYouth #SmartHiringWithSAYouth

One such initiative is their Work-Integrated Learning programme. The flagship 12-month programme focuses on preparing youth for careers in the contact centre industry. It includes: 1. Technical and Soft Skills Training. 2. Accredited Learning. 3. Practical Experience. 4. Inclusivity Focus. #BuyLocalToCreateJobs #PowerToYouth

In simple terms, what this means is that… 1. Young people have to navigate structural barriers to access the labour market e.g. high transport and data costs, among many other factors. 2. Young people’s pathways are not linear or permanent, and this is what we’ve coined the zig-zag phenomenon, which entails sporadically moving in and out of formal jobs, short-term gigs, learning programmes, and entrepreneurial efforts. These journeys are rarely continuous or sequential and instead reflect the realities of a porous and fragmented youth labour market 3. Lastly, the skilling system is not producing work-ready young people for the labour market. #BuyLocalToCreateJobs #PowerToYouth

We’re moving into Part 3 of the programme: real-time learning. Two young candidates receive live interview coaching from SA’s top leaders. Ms Zengeziwe Msimang, CCO at Harambee, sets the scene: “A successful interview can make or break a young person’s path to work. Mock interviews build confidence — especially when there’s no prior experience.” @PMashatile @PresidencyZA @GCIS @SAYouth_SA #PaulMashatile #ThePresidency #YouthMonth2025 #YouthDay2025 #DPVisitsHarambee #EmploySAYouth #SAYouth #YouthEngagement2025
