October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month! So this Monday we want to make sure that the parents of children who have Down Syndrome are feeling heard 🩷 A misconception surrounding newborn babies with Down Syndrome is that they will not be able to breastfeed. This is not correct. With the right support, it’s very possible for babies with Down Syndrome to breastfeed! It is so important to us that ALL mums and families get the support they need to breastfeed their children as long as they want to. During World Breastfeeding Week @PositiveaboutDS shared some amazing breastfeeding stories with us on Instagram, which show that support is key. 🌟 All 🌟 Haringey residents are welcome to ask for support in the way that best works for you. We know that you don't all always feel safe in all of our settings, and we want to best support you. We also offer support in Spanish, and antenatal sessions. We're here to listen 🥰

We offer many forms of universal support: we visit families on Haringey maternity wards, text/call families after a new birth, offer home visits, and you can come to our 3 drop-ins, book a 1-1 appointment, register for a video call, and send us an email with questions. 3/4

Black breastfeeding families, we see you, and are here for you if you want a safe space where families support each other 🤎 Starting on 5/11, we will be offering a monthly online meet up for Black breastfeeding families (that includes expressing and mixed feeding). 1/4
