How good is AI at patient ENT info? 🧠👂 Altas et al. (Egyptian J Otolaryngology, 2026) tested ChatGPT-4, Gemini, DeepSeek & Grok on chronic otitis media FAQs. Promising—but variable quality + poor readability highlight why clinician-led validation matters link.springer.com/article/10.118…

Team Wilmslow Shines at NHS Clinical Hackathon Grand Final 🏅 Wins Prize in London! 🇬🇧 Hosted by quantum tech giants Quantinuum ⚛️ London, 1 May 2025 — Team Wilmslow has done the North West proud! After winning the regional round of the first-ever NHS Clinical Hackathon, the team claimed a fantastic third place at today’s National Grand Final in London, hosted by Quantinuum — the world’s largest integrated quantum computing company 🌐. The final brought together 13 inspiring NHS teams from across the UK, with some travelling from as far away as the Netherlands ✈️, all competing to turn frontline NHS challenges into life-changing solutions. ⸻ Transforming Children’s Lives with AI 👧🧒💤 Team Wilmslow’s app tackles a serious issue: obstructive sleep apnoea in children. Many young patients suffer for over a year without diagnosis, leading to poor sleep, behavioural difficulties, and long-term health issues. Their app was: •💡 Dreamed up and prototyped in a single day •⚕️ Designed to speed up diagnosis and referrals •⏱️ Able to cut down waiting times •❤️ Focused on giving children their sleep — and their childhood — back Following their win at the Wilmslow Health Centre hackathon, the team developed the app further over several weeks, culminating in today’s impressive pitch in front of expert judges. ⸻ Voices from the Team 🗣️ Dr Amar Ahmed, Founding Partner of the NHS Clinical AI and Quantum Hackathon and GP at Wilmslow Health Centre: “The Hackathon proves what happens when we empower NHS staff. You don’t need to be a tech wizard — just someone with insight, compassion, and the will to make things better. It’s about unlocking innovation from within.” ⚙️❤️ Dr Ayaz Damani, GP at Wilmslow Health Centre: “It was a fantastic event, and an honour to represent Wilmslow Health Centre and the North West. Our team — a blend of primary and secondary care clinicians — has shown that innovation through collaboration is not only possible, but powerful. We’re thrilled to have received a finalist prize!” 🌟 Mr Haroon Saeed, ENT Surgeon and Wilmslow native: “Sleep apnoea in children is under-recognised and devastating for families. Our app offers a way to act sooner and change lives. It’s about giving children their energy, their sleep — and their smiles — back.” 🌙✨ ⸻ Meet Team Wilmslow 🙌 •Mr Haroon Saeed – ENT Surgeon, raised in Wilmslow •Dr Ayaz Damani – GP, Wilmslow Health Centre •Dr Azim Qadir – GP Registrar, Wilmslow Health Centre •Miss Sadia Kwaja – Consultant ENT Surgeon, Manchester Foundation Trust •Dr Iullio Ireimesku – GP Registrar, Wilmslow Health Centre •Dr Sushma Sekhar – GP Partner & Trainer, Stockbridge Village Health Centre, Knowsley •Dr Rubika Rai – GP, Plymouth •Abdul Aahad – Medical Student, Lancaster University See the Hackathon in Action 🎥 #NHSInnovation #ClinicalHackathon #TeamWilmslow #DigitalHealth #HealthTech #AIinHealthcare #NHSPrimaryCare #NHSFuture #ChildHealth #SleepApnoea #HackathonHeroes #InnovationInAction #Quantinuum #QuantumComputing #GrassrootsInnovation #MadeInTheNHS #Wilmslow #WilmslowHealthCentre #NorthWestNHS #LancasterUniversity #ManchesterFoundationTrust @ENT_elligence @drfariahmad @NHSCandM @NHSEngland @NHSLeadership @rcgp @DustynSaint @BMA_GP @arunnadarasa @QuantinuumQC

Otology & Neurotology are stepping into the AI era—leveraging wearables, EMRs, imaging & omics to unlock smarter care. Hearing aids & cochlear implants could become data-driven tools, not just devices. Early days, but big promise. #AIinMedicine pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38871535/
