@sam_golf I’m more fascinated by my mate @harrisonendy96 teeing it up in both events next week. That’s not going to be easy.

Genuinely intrigued as to what you do in this situation if you’re Harry Higgs. You’re in the Barbasol field, but you’re first alternate for the more lucrative Scottish Open. Feels like first alt gets in more often than not, but it’s a bit of a gamble to fly over hoping you do?

Fields for the Genesis Scottish Open and the Barbasol Championship Note: the open sponsor exemption restricted to PGA TOUR members for the Genesis Scottish Open will be offered to the winner of the John Deere Classic if not otherwise exempt.

@BMac_Oz @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ @mikeclaytongolf Service and club house quality is your perfect answer. When you travel you see it.
English

@harrisonendy96 @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ @mikeclaytongolf Again, says the guy who never paid for a golf club membership. Who is saying poor us? Apart from the range ball bit, what are Aussie clubs not doing that is so wonderful in the US? How much extra would dues be if implemented?
English

So much private course practice in Australia is with limited flight balls off mats. A waste of time.
Rick Fehr@fehrgolf
Answer: hitting my own practice balls (premium) off grass and having to retrieve them myself. Talk about focused practice! I tried to have them grouped closely together. FYI, my college team practiced the same way on a field on campus.
English

@BMac_Oz @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ @mikeclaytongolf No extra mate. It’s called club policy. All you guys think is how much extra instead of what cna we do to be great
English

@BMac_Oz @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ @mikeclaytongolf Mate you join a club because your successful at your trade. I don’t care what you earn a year. Problem is in Australia is we act poor me because I don’t have this particular job. PGA tour is just a job the same as laying bricks. Both deserve same privileges
English

@harrisonendy96 @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ @mikeclaytongolf Absolutely I would assume you have worked your ass of AT GOLF. Others though work their asses off in the regular world to afford already expensive memberships to golf clubs. Your ideas would only add to those costs. When you pay, you want bang for buck.
English

@BMac_Oz @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ @mikeclaytongolf Now the fun begins. I’ve worked my ass off. And I know what it’s like to do it tough. I worked hard to earn what I have. Harden up pal. And you will be ok
English

@harrisonendy96 @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ @mikeclaytongolf Guy who never paid for a golf membership giving lectures on how clubs should be run, services that should be offered. This free app never fails to deliver!
English

@lovingit5555 @BaronPhilbert @mikeclaytongolf @eaglesbirdies @Coach_Mackay_ Sorry but truth hurts. That’s reality.
English

@StephenRoche100 @BaronPhilbert @mikeclaytongolf @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ Yeah I agree. But I think that if we can change the culture a little better and start looking after paying members better we would start to see golf improve. My opinion of course.
English

@harrisonendy96 @BaronPhilbert @mikeclaytongolf @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ It’s an opportunity. I’m just not sure it will happen until we have course staff relying on tips to get paid. In Aust it’s all about keeping cost down, rather than making $$ through great service, in no small part because we don’t tip here. Just my view.
English

@StephenRoche100 @BaronPhilbert @mikeclaytongolf @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ So isn’t that a opportunity. Cheaper world class courses with unbelievable service. We make to many excuses for stuff down there. Over here it’s all about getting better
English

@harrisonendy96 @BaronPhilbert @mikeclaytongolf @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ Aren’t you agreeing with me? I’m not sure whether by “we”, you mean in the US or Australia?
Great courses in Aust. Terrible service. What I’m saying is that I’d take that over very expensive courses with great service and tipping. 🤷
English

@StephenRoche100 @BaronPhilbert @mikeclaytongolf @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ Not even close mate. We have great courses. Terrible service. No passion down there
English

@BaronPhilbert @harrisonendy96 @mikeclaytongolf @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ Came back from the US 2 months ago. I’d take our set ups every day. Sure, their service is outstanding, but it’s driven by a tipping culture. To come back and see what we pay for our golf in Vic, I’d take crappy range balls and $50-$120 rounds every time.🤷
English

@RoibeardOMordha @Ekrnb2 That’s how it was when I was living as a kid in Aus. I got introduced to a great golf club. But I had my chores to do before I go play. And those where services to the members
English

@harrisonendy96 @Ekrnb2 I agree, but that's why caddies have all but disappeared here on the sandbelt...minimum wage is way more than in the states. Try that here now, and in 5 years time you get pinged for wage theft.
English

@RoibeardOMordha @Ekrnb2 Sadly down there you get pinged for everything 😂. I more in for a service provided by the juniors who are on scholarship for better member services. Not employees
English

@scott___warren @mikeclaytongolf @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ That’s fine all preference. I respect that. But the option there for a passionate kid asking “would you like your clubs cleaned mr Warren” goes a long way
English

@mikeclaytongolf @kanechrism @harrisonendy96 @Coach_Mackay_ Full-flight range balls would be nice, but you can miss me with a shoe shine guy & perfumed towels. Likewise the $3k increase in annuals that would fund it.
English

@Coach_Mackay_ @mikeclaytongolf @eaglesbirdies Absolutely. But isn’t the goal to make in beyond real
English

@kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ @mikeclaytongolf There’s more to earning a scholarship than just good golf. Respect to members and the club. Isn’t that the idea of introducing young members?
English

@harrisonendy96 @Coach_Mackay_ @mikeclaytongolf I live here mate, and am a member of a golf club. Well aware of how elite players get a free ride! It makes it hard for them to understand the value of a service when they don't pay for it.
English

@kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ @mikeclaytongolf Well make them earn it then. That’s the reality of life mate
English

@mikeclaytongolf @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ Especially for the big clubs. But why stop there. Put a 100% into it. Show the members why they joined this club. And there is not what ifs. Australian clubs need that mindset. Not making excuses why we can’t. There’s always a way to make things better
English

@kanechrism @harrisonendy96 @Coach_Mackay_ I don’t think many - if any - Australians want ‘American-style service’ but decent range balls isn’t too much to ask.
English

@mikeclaytongolf @kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ I agree. But American system works. People travel here because of that.
English

@kanechrism @Coach_Mackay_ @mikeclaytongolf I believe when the club pays for a junior program that’s part of their contract. They help with member services. That’s how it was when I was kid. It’s tough love but hardens you up
English

@harrisonendy96 @Coach_Mackay_ @mikeclaytongolf How much are you paying at your Australian club now, and how much more would you be prepared to pay for an American-style service model? And how many of your fellow members would support it with their wallets?
English

@Coach_Mackay_ @AdrianLogue @eaglesbirdies @mikeclaytongolf One thing I’ve learnt living here. Look after the right people they look after you. Australia needs that back into the golf world. We have some unbelievable powerful members of course across Australia. The young junior cleaning his clubs and making sure he’s all set goes far
English
