@AshAllenDesign Deliberately underestimating or underpricing X thing because you’re afraid of confrontation. In other words: Learn to value yourself.

What’s one skill you wish you’d learned earlier in your freelance web dev journey? Mine would definitely be time management. I used to (and still do sometimes) have a habit of working much more than I should do! 😅

I thought travelling with a one year old wasn’t bad. That it would only get easier. Then she turned two.

The left thumb stick on my Steam Deck just had to break before a 13 hour flight. Yay…

@AshAllenDesign All over the place tbh! There’s Skar Productions who create some awesome metal covers. Or I’ll look up for a lengthy OST from anything that comes to mind. Love me some chiptunes/remixes too!

Does anyone else listen to game soundtracks while they're working? Or is it just me being a bit weird? 😂 When I'm doing any writing, I find the Hollowknight and Tunic soundtracks really help me focus

@paulmichaeldev Yikes that’s rough. I expected something at handover tbh but you’ve still got that to go… hopefully it goes smoothly though!

End of lease handover. I had a private plate on the car that needed to be changed back, and then getting them to book a collection date. It's taken a week and multiple emails with 6 advisors who clearly aren't communicating, before I had enough and picked up the phone. One person told me 2 options for changing the plate - online and a week, or paper form and 8+ weeks. I elected for online. Took them 4 days (and 3 chasers) to say they were doing it, and when I asked about timescales 20 minutes later they said it's done. A week my arse... 2 minutes. I had an early termination quote sent last week with a signing deadline of end of Sunday. I signed it and sent it back end of Saturday, only to be told this morning that I need to sign and send back a quote. That's what I picked up the phone about - the advisor on the phone confirmed that it had been assigned so wasn't sure why it hadn't been processed. So by this point I've had 3 different people tell me via email about the process, but none of them told me that because it's a July termination, collection needs to be done by August 7th latest. I had requested a collection 4 times via email of the 9th August. So hell knows what's going to happen next week on collection; they'll probably find a million reasons to charge me for stuff. But I now have a Tesla purchased on finance by my company. It's saving me thousands, and I won't have to go through this process again in 3-4 years.

@humble Do you know anything about the discrepancy on the advertised savings? I.e "A Plague Tale" is showing up to £7 in savings. (20% off) However, I'm getting 5% off when it should be 10%. My friend who is eliglbe for 20% is only getting 10%. This is widespread throughout the store.

Very close to considering selling my 2x Studio Displays, and buying some gaming displays. The 60Hz refresh kills me every time I switch between my gaming setup (144Hz) and these studios. Never realised the difference until now 🥲

PSA! Don't forget to double-check the data you send over WebSockets. These can be inspected via DevTools by your users just like an API request can.

@AshAllenDesign Haha, love traffic like that! While some people would call it pointless. It really does spur you into action to work harder.

Woah! I'm not used to having that many people on my site at once! At most, I usually only get about 10-15 visitors at once. So this is really motivating! 😄

@justin_abrams1 @NicheDown Looks super interesting! I’m currently looking around an affordable alternative outside the big players so I’ll check this out! Although it says $17 a month for me, is that right?

I'm biased but @NicheDown's site Keysearch[.]co is fantastic The UI is arguably cleaner than Ahrefs and SEMRush and after running a bunch of tests, the crawler is very much comparable It's probably 90% as good and 10% of the cost ($12/mo). Crazy value!

🔥 You can use the "#[\SensitiveParameter]" attribute in PHP to hide parameter values from the stack trace. This is perfect for redacting sensitive information, like passwords and API keys, in your logs!

I no longer have a job! I was part of a big layoff at @PlanetScale today. I'll miss working there, it was a great experience. Feeling bummed, kinda embarrassed, but also slightly optimistic? Trying to figure out what's next. I'd love to hear any ideas ❤️
