Colleague @DanielEstrin:  Hezbollah has confirmed the death of the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah. Earlier Saturday, Israel’s military said Nasrallah was killed in Hezbollah’s main headquarters underneath a residential building in the southern Beirut suburb of Dahiya.

Israel achieved primarily one thing in the last couple of days: it made the world stand with Lebanon as it does with Palestine, seeing Israel as the morality-free aggressor and invader in both places. Israel is used to thinking public opinion doesn't matter, but it does. The natural recoil billions of people feel at the very mention of the word Israel will influence reality in so many different ways. Currently, there is no one big political movement or momentum to channel this feeling into a serious force, but it doesn't mean that it's not there, waiting for an outlet, building and building, anxiously unnoticed, or at least unspoken of, by colonial media. There has never been a country that relished the hate it generated by its actions like Israel. It feels fantastically shielded and protected, forgetting October 7 and a thousand other 'surprises'. I cannot think of a dumber, more destined-to-fail experiment in political history. Well, maybe just one.
