Everton set themselves up for failure with that last corner. Nobody on the edge. The second phase is always the biggest threat against a team like City who lack aerial power. Could see the danger before it happened.

@nonewthing He has that momentum shifting ability of winning big duels and carrying/holding off players. He might not be a guaranteed starter but he’s valuable to us

@HarryrMac @Victory7177 @rajsinghchohan You can have both Ø & Eze, thats a choice but Ø is a must in this squad because he's the controller. Unfortunately, injuries to LB profiles forced MLS to continue there but its a miss as he's not tried in the midfield to share a few of Ø's responsibilities. Mikel prefers control.

Ødegaard should have been completely phased out as soon as Zubimendi came in. I don’t think what Odegaard offers in terms of pressing is worth his zero impact in transition. Eze should be in the front 2 of their 4-4-2 defensive shape because this is what he offers in transition.

@GoonerGalactic @Victory7177 @rajsinghchohan I agree our buildup has been subpar, also because of defensive availability. But you either have Rice 6 with Eze and Odegaard, or you just play Eze. You don’t rely on your 10 for buildup. Also he hinders our attacking intent by missing through balls and his angle bias

@HarryrMac @Victory7177 @rajsinghchohan Arsenal's directness in attack is directly proportional to Ø's availability, it took massive hit despite Eze starting. When both Rice & Zubi are unreliable in buildup, you need him because he connects buildup phases - helping progress the ball from defensive 3rd to final 3rd.

@Victory7177 @rajsinghchohan What he was doing. Would you rather him in that zone or Eze? As he’s captain when he plays, we attack in his image. Lacks directness of passing and dribbling. He could become similar to Bernardo but he’s not as press resistant. Can’t manipulate angles as well either

@HarryrMac @rajsinghchohan Go rewatch 2022/3 , 23/4 seasons and what he was doing. His role has changed , at one point he was kept high around zone 14, hence his output was higher. We look better with ode on the pitch and can pin teams rather than a basketball match

@Victory7177 @rajsinghchohan Do you want control from your attacking midfielder? No you want attacking output. And he lacks the physicality to officially play deeper. He’s sub-elite that’s all

@rajsinghchohan @HarryrMac Youre talking utter Nonsense considering hes our most technical player and hes been dealing with a knee issue. Eze was below par up until February. Why would we phase him out when we lack high level technical players in midfield is beyond me. We maintain control due to Ode.

Villa without UCL and this improvement on the ball should have many taking notice? Definately some work receiving off the back foot but he’s got so much there to work with. Someone will be getting a very good anchor you can grow with.

It looks like @Gradient_Sports data matches with my Statsbomb data. Pressured pass completion is 87% for Amadou Onana, which was sceptical to a lot of people. I would recommend using @Gradient_Sports app, they have a lot of interesting metrics of their own. I'm loving it 😍

Arsenal and Declan Rice waiting to learn if comments made last night about referee could land midfielder in hot water with UEFA. Also sweating on fitness of Martin Odegaard. He was forced off last night due to knee discomfort. More here: thesun.co.uk/sport/38979839…

@TMtalksball I think he’s prioritising the weekend and aiming to win it in the home leg. And having the right profiles available for that. Could’ve played trossard. Surprised Jesus hasn’t had some wide minutes

#AFC | This is the worst coaching season of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal career. He has horribly misprofiled his Attack and defence. Hardly gets the balance right of runners/ball to feet players in Attack. Hardly has enough passers in the backline too. Horrid. Not good enough.

@YankeeGunner @LeGrove We’ve gone for a physical approach over technical. We have to be at it 100% of the time to defend with intensity and that’s why we crash towards the end of seasons. Technical teams with star attackers have leeway to concede goals. I hope we’ll change the balance over the summer

@LeGrove there isn't really a debate. Having your best players fit all season is how you win things. The problem is that we continually seem unable to do that. And THAT is where there's a lot of debate. Unfortunately we just don't have much good information to support conclusions on that

If Kai Havertz were fit for the whole season, Arsenal would have the league wrapped by now, and we'd have a lot more goals because he makes everyone around him better. I'm not sure why there's such debate about the most obvious observation in football right now.

@TMtalksball He struggles to stand at the right angles to receive the ball on the left. And his lack of variety of movements are a fair criticism. All that athleticism but the defender always knows his starting position

#AFC | People Love to lie on this app btw. Should have been a foul but just one example of why Noni LW is better.

@rem7ntada @AkzAfc He doesn’t make runs in behind and doesn’t dribble past people so he just ends up looking like Nuno Tavares at LW

@Keepitonthedeck In isolation it’s a red card. In isolation the Haaland goal is also a foul. The referee set the bar and allowed these two to battle all game and it made it more enjoyable. And I can’t see many people complaining. Think the ref did well

Yes, pundits and fans reacted negatively to the incident, calling for a red card and so on, and rightly so. But within that moment, there is also a huge clue as to why both of these sides are having such strong seasons. Beyond skill, ability, structure and coaching, there is something else at play. Will. Mentality. How often do we see top class talent fall short of its potential? Not because of a lack of ability, but because it is not driven by passion, connection or desire, call it what you want. Both Arsenal and Manchester City have clearly recognised the importance of that edge. Their recruitment does not just focus on talent alone, it prioritizes players who bring that mentality into the dressing room. That drive has a huge part to play in separating good teams from great ones.
