Cuba is ninety miles from Florida. It has been under American embargo for over sixty years. The people who designed that embargo, who maintained it through 13 consecutive administrations, who tightened it every time Cuba showed signs of building a functional public health system, are not considered to be engaged in economic warfare against a civilian population. They are considered to be defending "democracy." The Cuban doctors who went to Africa to fight Ebola. The Cuban literacy programs. The Cuban medical system that, despite the embargo, produces health outcomes that embarrass the richest country on earth. None of that appears in the American curriculum. Because the curriculum is not designed to give you information. It is designed to give you a framework. The framework says: Cuba is a dictatorship. America promotes freedom. The embargo is a consequence of Cuban choices. The framework does not say: the embargo was designed, from the beginning, to make the Cuban population miserable enough to overthrow their government, as documented in declassified State Department memos from the Kennedy era. The framework never gives you the memos. The framework gives you the conclusion. Sixty-four years of civilian suffering. Sixty-four years of medicine shortages and economic strangulation. And in the American schools: Cuba is a cautionary tale about socialism. The operation never ends.

Cuba President: "Since the October Revolution raised the wealth-creators to power, every socialist system has faced brutal aggressions and blockades -- yet no one can deny what they gave humanity. Cuba is not a failed state. Cuba is a besieged state."

They took the gold. They took the diamonds. They took the rubber. They took the ivory. They took the palm oil. They took the copper. They took the uranium, including the uranium used in the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which came from the Belgian Congo. They took the labor, for centuries, in chains, across an ocean, in the largest forced migration in human history. They took the land. They took the governance structures and replaced them with administrative systems designed to serve extraction. They took the educated class and either exiled, imprisoned, or assassinated those who resisted. They took Patrice Lumumba and had him killed. They took Thomas Sankara and had him killed. They took the future these men represented and replaced it with regimes that served the extraction. And then they looked at what remained and called it proof that Africa could not govern itself.

Tens of thousands of Lebanese are returning to the southern district of Beirut after weeks of devastating Israeli airstrikes reduced entire neighborhoods to rubble. In Dahieh, once one of the most densely populated areas in Lebanon, families are coming back to destroyed homes, shattered businesses, and uncertain futures. Despite the destruction, many residents say they will never leave again. Al Jazeera's Malcolm Webb reports.

Nigeria Is Bleeding From Within It is deeply troubling to read recent World Bank reports indicating that, while Nigeria’s Federation Revenue surged to ₦84 trillion in just three years, a staggering 41% —amounting to ₦34.44 trillion —never reached the Federation Account. This sum exceeds the combined ₦34 trillion earmarked for capital projects in the 2024 and 2025 Appropriation Bills, a comparison that underscores the gravity of the situation and signals that something is fundamentally wrong. This is not a mere oversight; it points to institutionalised corruption on a massive scale. In 1994, when the Okigbo Panel reported about $12.4 billion from the Gulf War oil windfall as unaccounted for, Nigerians were outraged and the nation shook with indignation. Today, an even more troubling situation appears to be unfolding, yet it is met with a disquietening silence. We are trapped in a lethal paradox: Earning more as a nation, yet having less to invest in healthcare, education, and infrastructure. From 2025, systemic “deductions” have allowed agencies to capture more resources than entire states and even critical ministries. These leakages explain why countries with fewer resources are out-performing us across key development indices. With such a broken system, how can we fix power, strengthen our schools, build resilient healthcare, or develop critical infrastructure? Nigeria has no business being poor. We must stop these leakages through disciplined, transparent leadership driven by character. It is time to redirect our hijacked resources back to the people and move Nigeria into the league of developed nations. With our collective resolve to change this corruption-infested system, a New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
