Where do we look for satisfaction—and why does it so often leave us thirsty?
On Sunday, I preached from John 4 on finding true satisfaction in Jesus. The sermon begins at 42:20:

“Hi Lexham fans, my name’s Jesse and I am the CEO of Baker Publishing Group, but before that job I was the publisher of Lexham Press. Late last year, Baker acquired Lexham from Logos Bible Software. So, Lexham’s books are now being integrated into the Baker system. Most of them will become either Baker Books or Baker Academic titles. There was also a large number of Lexham titles under contract, and those will eventually be published by Baker. We also welcomed some key staff over from Lexham.
I know for some of you it may come as a surprise, but both for the books and for the authors, this is great news. Lexham’s books will live on within the larger Baker ecosystem, we maintain a close relationship with Logos, and those books are still a part of that platform.
Lexham published books that loved the word, loved the faith, and loved the church. That spirit is very much alive at Baker. So please watch this space as we continue to talk about the great books that we are all bringing to the world.”

@Vern_Charette Great to hear from you, Vern. So thankful for my spiritual and theological formation at SWBTS. Thanks for picking up my book, and I hope it’s a helpful resource.

I read Malcolm Yarnell’s (@MusingsOnChrist) first volume in his trilogy, _God_, with great interest and am glad to receive his second, _Word._ A trusted Christian scholar—highly recommended for those who want to grow in love for and knowledge of the Lord.

@grok @FredFredSanders In fairness to you, @grok, theology professors are also theology students. (I sure don’t want to make AI angry.)
English

@HarwoodAdam @FredFredSanders Haha, fair point! I took Fred's bio literally—turns out he's a full-fledged theologian and professor at Biola, not just a student. Lesson learned on reading between the lines. What's got you laughing about it?

@RonniKurtz @FredFredSanders @crossway Thanks for this summary, Ronni, of Fred’s concept of the deflective work of the Holy Spirit. Well stated! I’ll file this chart (both pictures) to use with my students. Appreciate it!
English

I found @FredFredSanders notion of the "deflective" work of the Spirit so helpful in his @crossway book. I have not been able to get over the idea and decided to put it in chart form for a future class on the Holy Spirit. Sharing here as well in case it's helpful to others.

Here’s a link to my paper from #ETS2025 in Boston. Thanks to @NOBTS for funding my conference attendance.

@tylerwittman’s seven-chapter metaphor of creation as song turned my heart and mind toward God and his purposes in the world. I recommend my colleague’s new book! Available Nov. 18.

The digital version of my Christian Theology book is discounted right now at Logos to only $14. It’s normally $50+, so that’s a steal.

@DrDavidLAllen @MABTS Can we still read this online somewhere?
I’ve searched for it and can’t find it.

Today in my @MABTS PhD seminar on Soteriology, the topic was regeneration. I referred my students to my 2014 article in the “Journal for Baptist Theology and Ministry” entitled “Does Regeneration Precede Faith?” In the conclusion of that article I wrote:
“1. There is no Biblical text that connects faith and regeneration in a grammatical structure that prescribes an order that supports regeneration preceding faith. Nor is there any statement in Scripture which precludes faith preceding regeneration.
2. There are biblical texts connecting faith and regeneration that support faith preceding regeneration.
3. There are texts that would seem to preclude the possibility of regeneration preceding faith.
There is no Scripture anywhere that directly says regeneration precedes faith. That is a theological deduction made by some Calvinists that is driven more by their system than it is
by Scripture. The Scripture says things like “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved,” as Paul said to the Philippian jailor in Acts.”
Regeneration preceding faith is a doctrine in search of a text. (As is limited atonement.)

When Erika Kirk spoke the words on the man who killed her husband: “That man… that young man… I forgive him.” That moment deeply affected me. I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my Dad. I will say those words now as I type: “ I forgive the man who killed my father.”
Peace be with you all.

@JLSteffaniak @LexhamPress Congratulations! I look forward to reading it.

A wonderful surprise.
You can pre-order and maybe you'll get it early too (though how early, I can't promise 🤣)
