Just got off a call with a childhood friend His wife has cancer, it took 5 months to wipe out 20 years of his life savings and that was with insurance. He said the experience has turned him into a hateful, bitter person. They did everything they were told. They went to college, got degrees, avoided credit card debt, spent wisely, saved a nice chunk of money in savings accounts and retirement accounts and minded their own business. The USA healthcare system took all of their savings and retirement and forced them to refinance their house so that they lost 15 years of equity. Is this a country we are supposed to be proud of? I hate this system and anyone that defends it.

$HBAR ecosystem update — Origin pausing operations is tough, but context matters ⚡️ There’s been a lot of talk about @entertheorigin pausing ops due to funding and market conditions. The Hedera Foundation has taken heat for backing projects like this that didn’t fully deliver. Here’s the bigger picture: Risk-reward was worth it at the time. Hindsight is 20/20 — if they could redo it, maybe they skip this one. But the Foundation has funded real winners across the ecosystem, and those successes far outweigh the misses. Lesson learned. Over the last 1-2 years the Foundation has tightened up dramatically. They’re more cautious, more selective, and only backing proven builders with clear roadmaps. Typical funding in the ecosystem has always varied widely. For comparison: • SaucerSwap received a 20 million HBAR grant (one of the larger ones) — and delivered the leading DEX on Hedera with massive TVL growth and real utility. Other solid projects have received multi-million HBAR grants too, driving DeFi, tokenization, and enterprise tools that are actually shipping today. Origin’s grant (amount not public) was relatively small in comparison — nowhere near the scale given to bigger, higher-impact builders. It hurts when a project pauses, but the Foundation’s overall approach is paying off: more scrutiny, better allocation, and real progress across the board. This is how ecosystems mature. Had a call today with the ex-CEO of a well-known crypto company that he successfully exited for 9 figures some time ago. My bad.” Second guy: “Watch where you’re going.” First guy: “I said sorry.” Should’ve ended there. But the second guy’s friend chimed in: “Yeah, you should watch it. My buddy’s a cage fighter.” I rolled my eyes. Here we go. First guy laughed. “A cage fighter? Okay, tough guy.” Second guy, now feeling pressured: “You got a problem?” “No problem. Just funny your friend has to tell people you’re tough.” The friend wouldn’t shut up: “He could kick your ass in two seconds.” Now both guys were posturing. The original bump was forgotten—it was all about ego now. I stepped in. “Gentlemen, let’s all calm down.” The friend STILL wouldn’t stop: “He doesn’t need to calm down. This guy’s the one with the problem.” I pointed at the friend. “You need to be quiet. You’re making this worse.” He got offended. “I’m a CUSTOMER. You can’t talk to me like that.” I banned him from the bar. He started yelling. His “cage fighter” friend tried to defend him, got loud. I kicked them both out. The first guy—the one who’d apologized originally—just shook his head and went back to his drink. Two guys almost got in a fight because a third guy wouldn’t shut up.
