They voted for the NPP because they were convinced that the economic issues were the result of corruption. The fact that NPP has not brought back any of the stolen money is all you need to know about how shallow such meaningless rhetoric often is.

You could put the most honest person in charge of SLC and that is not going to fix any of the white-ball issues. Sri Lankans often settle for easier explanations like corruption because they can't afford complex thinking.

@indika27 The government can issue permits that's one way of governing in SL by creating a class difference. But most will use that to make money before the migration. Which makes issuing permits a total $ outflow but it's their choice.

@indika27 For an example People don't need to wait on ques for 3 - 4 years for heart surgery. This will reduce overall costs of surgeries due to increase in supply. Even at government surgical theatres I don't think we utilise the total time.

@numberslka It's actually the tax system. In which country you need to give letters to the bank to not cut WHT. Even after declaring taxes I am waiting for IRD to return the WHT money which may never come. Enough of this blame game. People are not saints make it user friendly,and mandatory

On a tangential note, I got to know most of the PhD s of CBSL peeps are just churning some CBSL data (need further verification). Thus, not particularly valuable as PhDs where knowledge is invented. 💁🏼‍♂️
