Very proud to be in the House today to see my colleagues @jreynoldsMP and @LabourSJ standing up for British steelworkers and industry. This Government is delivering the muscular industrial policy this country needs in uncertain times.

I'm now wondering if my loyalty to @UKLabour has been thrown back in my face. It's a fact that the elderly struggle to stay warm. Taking away their winter fuel payments isn't sitting right with me. Pensioners have paid into the system all their lives. We should be honouring them not punishing them for being old. I never thought I'd say this but shame on @UKLabour So many other places to get the money.

@InsideNo11 can i remind you that not only the public sector kept front line service going through the pandemic! We were on the front line looking after children to let them go to work, no masks and no thank you or recognition!

86 families who’s children are losing their ELC nursery. The biggest cost in this awful decision is the loss of the secure relationships build by the staff and the children @Edinburgh_CC city. @suzannezeedyk

86 families have no childcare from this week @Edinburgh_CC @ELCScotGov @NatalieDon_ , 86 families who’s parents cannot go to work as they require flexible childcare.
Hassle121@Hassle121

@NatalieDon_ what are you going to do re claylands nursery closing on Wednesday due to Edinburgh council not Giving cross boundary funding. This is a disgrace and scot gov has nothing about it. Families with no childcare and no where to go!

How can the early years team go against the elected members when it was agreed at committee that this nursery would be given an exemption? Surely ELC employees have no right to against a democratic vote?

@NatalieDon_ Funding follows the child supposedly! Should @EdinburghCC lose their funding status for discrimination? The PVI would.

@elc1140 @NatalieDon_ @ELCScotGov @willie_rennie Absolutely shocking where’s the parental choice and what’s the rationale considering LA,s claim back from the child’s LA for cross boundary placements 🤷‍♂️

@willie_rennie Thank you, unfortunately @HumzaYousaf doesn’t get it. Working parents deserve more, and they deserve a first minister who appreciates the skills of women in Scotland, Look to Norway and Germany, they help with childcare, SG just pay lip service

Humza Yousaf was clear during the SNP leadership race that there needs to be fair funding for private and voluntary nurseries, but since then he has dodged the issue. I pressed him again today but he wouldn’t recommit to bringing forward a fair funding formula.

@elc1140 @theSNP @HumzaYousaf @neilcgray Spot on they are clearly not listening to those involved on the frontline of childcare or resolving the issues with 1140,even though we have highlighted the issues clearly, this needs addressed before further expansion, they’re only agenda is votes but they never deliver

@HumzaYousaf How you going to do this without the PVI sector? Because we’ve been telling you lot for years, before the current 1140 shambles was rolled out, that we were already stretched beyond our limits. Staffing crisis = declining quality = worse outcomes for children. WAKE UP AND LISTEN!

@NatalieDon_ @scotgov “Hugely positive”? Members cannot begin to agree as they have no detail ? So many questions from families when they are in the dark as to what you anticipate this will look like. You need to urgently release a road map to allow providers to decide if the are joining you or not.

@bluedisneygill @HumzaYousaf @2020Together Lets be honest the hrs are not free, tax payers pay for them and PVI providers r subsidising the deficit in funding but this cannot last and our children will suffer wen provision becomes ltd wen PVI close their doirs in droves - its not sustainable or #equitable

@HumzaYousaf @scotgov @thistlecharity All the more reason to ensure the services are paid their worth @HumzaYousaf. Equal funding for children and equal pay for as you highlight predominately female workforce. There will still be a c30% disparity in salaries between private & public sectors. #SameJobSamePay

NEW: First Minister @HumzaYousaf announces funding will be provided to increase frontline care worker's pay to £12 per hour, from April. He said it constitutes an average £2k per year or a 10% pay rise for carers
