It should be illegal for airlines to price gauge for cities trying to evacuate a hurricane. 1100$ for a one way ticket out? corporate rich people are the worst people on earth idc what anybody says, evil asf
@benjyminty@Petewrestling@Boenau I live in a bigger area than Milton Keynes and have no hub.
Not remote and not low population.
Tbh if you really believe people are all of a sudden going to pay £30 delivery for a £90 chipboard furniture item because it comes on a bike then your opinion is not worth much
@Petewrestling@HatterCynical@Boenau It depends where you live, you could be close enough to a bicycle distribution hub. If you live in a remote low population area, then why would you comment?
@Petewrestling@benjyminty@Boenau They're fucking stupid mate. The limits of this bicycle revolution is so limited and revolves solely around city centres. Amazon are doing drones for exactly the same reason.
@benjyminty@HatterCynical@Boenau For ikea it is
In their own words from their own website
“Delivering products to its customers with the city centre around the store”
So if you lived 10 miles from the store, they won’t be delivering to you by bike
@cianginty@Boenau I did.
I said I used the same terminology.
I said I was being curt because it's hard to take urbanites seriously when they have such a sheltered outlook
If you can't accept me using it why do you accept it used in industry?
@theCrazyVaclav@Boenau Would help if you accepted the continued use of the terminology.
Milton Keynes is actually built better for bikes than many other locations.
The VAST majority of people live outside of a reasonable last mile distance. And tbh nobody is worrying about the light stuff from IKEA
@HatterCynical@Boenau 41,000 for the Birmingham one.
About 80,000 for Milton Keynes
Hope that helps.
Also would help you if you knew what last mile delivery meant in logistics
@andrew_archer7 I'd rather nj put his knowledge to find our next manager... He's lost any trust with the fans.. even though most can't blame him for going to Southampton.
@mataleogml@HatterCynical@Boenau The last Mile according to times site is within the city centre around it stores
The nearest distribution centre to me is 79 miles away
Somehow the 7 hour cycle isn’t gonna happen is it 😂😂
@HatterCynical@Boenau Last miles is the miles between your house and the last wear house / distribution point/ mail or delivery center, not really the miles between you and IKEA
@katie_cardigan@cianginty@Boenau The people talking about IKEA purchases aren't talking about curtains though are they. If I lived a bike ride away from an IKEA I would be biking my meatballs home several times a week.. and would STILL take a car for bigger items because I'm not mental or so entrenched
@HatterCynical@cianginty@Boenau In Australia the IKEAs are usually in the cities, sometimes only kms from the city. Means I can bike my new curtains the 3km home! Super handy. Some people need to drive but luckily not everyone or the car park would be even more chaotic!
@benjyminty@Boenau So they bring their van to your neighbourhood and you go pick it up with your bike? Somehow I guess that's not how they are suggesting it will work
