Branwell Bronte's favourite haunt The Black Bull is still open in Haworth and well worth a visit. He sat in a distinctive corner chair; the inn claims to have the original, but so does the Bronte Parsonage Museum a short stumble from the pub.

@BardVorpal Yes, but I used to work in forensic psychiatric units and cat a prisons, so scanning for and assessing risk, mapping exit points etc was like breathing

Last summer, my son, then 9, swam in an English river and suffered 6 whole days of diarrhoea and vomiting. It was very worrying. His friend was almost hospitalised. And now we’re told the only way we can have more houses is by sacrificing any hope of cleaning up our waterways. It’s so depressing. Humanity can surely be better than this.

@theAliceRoberts Part of the solution to our housing crisis is to bring empty homes back into use. New builds are just one part of the puzzle, and we might question how many Tory donors are housing developers.

@HiddenYorkshire I've long come to the conclusion that it was largely invented as a category to lump together books by women that if they had been written by men would be speculative fiction, scifi or fantasy.

@HiddenYorkshire I read 1984 at 13, along with Daphne du Maurier, Angela Carter and all sorts that required an early adult library ticket. I read YA at 61. I think it's a bit of a non category to be honest. Yeah there is a lot of coming of age stuff in it, but that used to just be in "books"

going to sound like the most unbearable teenager but I don't get a lot of YA culture bc I just didn't read YA. I skipped to grown up novels. Missed out that whole Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, YA novel era. Just became *that* irritatingly precocious kid who read 1984 at 13
