Good questions but the analogy actually highlights the difference. If you teach a child the wrong color name, reality corrects it because color can be tested and verified independently. Anyone can point, measure wavelengths, and agree on what ‘green’ is. Religious claims don’t work that way. There’s no independent method to verify which god, doctrine, or interpretation is true yet people across cultures arrive at completely different ‘truths’ based largely on upbringing. Yes, adults can change beliefs, you’re an example of that. But that doesn’t show beliefs are independent of influence; it shows they can be replaced by new influences, experiences, or reasoning. So I’m guessing there was something or someone that influenced you to become Christian. That’s not a criticism; it’s just how humans learn and adopt beliefs over time. The point isn’t that we’re programmed like machines, but that our environment plays a major role, especially when the claims themselves aren’t objectively testable.
