CrémantCommunarde #4402 💚👊🕊️
Farage wouldn't have the popularity he does if he had not been platformed consistently, and with monotonous regularity, for a decade and a half by the BBC, Sky News, Channel 4 News and every gutter press newspaper, with his fake persona as a "beer-drinking man of the people". He is, in my personal opinion, a corporatist fascist. He doesn't care one iota about the working class (other than how it can be manipulated to be footsoldiers for a far-right takeover of the country). This morning I am reminded more than ever of the words of @MichaelRosenYes 's poem:

@Boing__Baggies Vic Buckingham! I think he's still Baggies longest serving post war manager & also managed Ajax (when Cruyff was there) & Barcelona! A truly great Baggies manager & sadly overlooked by many now! #wba

I still think Bretton Woods is among the most underrated stories not just in economic history but ALL history. A tale of human and economic/diplomatic drama. If you're interested in it on this, the 80th anniversary, here's the requisite book plug👇 amazon.co.uk/Summit-Biggest…

🧵 80 years ago today, newspapers in Europe carried news of the unexpected death of a very important man, in a hotel miles from the nearest city. A man who, said some, was helping the Allies win the war. But there was a twist to the tale. The man in question wasn't actually dead

You may notice there’s never a shortage of money for wars, bank bailouts, covid. No “borrowing”, or 2p on income tax. The government simply spent the money. Of course some people make lots of profit.

It’s not true what the grocer’s daughter said. This may be a shock, but there’s no such thing as “taxpayer money”. She lied. There’s only government money, and if government doesn’t spend enough money into the economy, taxpayers don’t have money to pay taxes. Or live on.🧵👇

Bella Donita holding an Israeli official to account in January on Sky News, it was her last ever appearance. Like Sangita Myska she was cancelled. RT the hell out of this, we can't let anyone who stands up be cut down, and let them get away with it.

@BladeoftheS Good luck with that, it’s not our gift. It’s in the gift of 27 other countries who we did the dirty on. Getting back in, especially on terms as good as those we left on, will be a long hard slog.

I periodically get people telling me the same, not seen my posts for weeks, months... Weird how with the # of followers I have pretty much no one sees my posts. Why, Elon? Where's your "free speech" & "no censorship"?🙄

@EvaKBartlett Eva this is the first post from you that I have seen in weeks - it is horrendous what @elonmusk is doing to you.

@LaurenLloris Will it be on the same terms we had when we left? If/when it happens will the EU be the same or will it have become more right wing, more bellicose, more authoritarian than it was? Can we use our monetary sovereignty to support our economy?

This logic is, of course, very convenient - the idea being that it washes the blood from the hands of those who’ve supported this genocide. So, it’ll continue to be drummed out, initially from the far right but into the consciousness of centrists & those who refuse to think. 1/2

@tsh2 @i_iratus @Ofwat Administrators can continue operations with current staff until the govt buy the remaining assets as bankrupt stock! Prob reasons why this is infeasible but it makes sense to me.

@tsh2 @i_iratus @Ofwat They appear to be insolvent, so let them go bankrupt. That way govt don’t have to take on their debt, the lenders have to take the loss. Isn’t capitalism about risk?

@pippopotamus @kevinajdiamond @PickardJE As they’re almost certainly insolvent it’s better to let them go bust or govt may have to take over their huge debt. If they’re bankrupt the lenders will take the hit. Then take back into public ownership.

NEW: Labour government to put failing water companies in “special measures” to make them clean up Britain’s waterways with new legislation expected by industry - banning bonuses for worst polluters - potential criminal charges for repeat offenders - tougher monitoring of sewage outflows by me and @gillplimmer1 ft.com/content/e9c3af…

@WhoCare08153333 @implausibleblog If you take a co into public ownership I imagine you take on its assets and liabilities. Creditors will be litigating for their money. That’s why I would prefer them to go bust first. Otherwise govt would have to repudiate a legitimate debt or pay it.

Matt Frei, "One of the first acts of the new Labour government may well be taking Thames Water into public ownership.. The company that serves 16 million customers says it has less than one year before the money runs out" Helia Ebrahimi, "The water quality doesn't look great but the financial quality isn't much better.. Campaigners have been tracking dangerous chemicals in the water" Laura Reineke, "We feel let down.. They serve 1 in 4 in our country.. They've spent our money on dividends and payouts on executives it doesn't need.. It's just poo in pipes.. It has been made complicated to make money.. If I did my job that badly, I would have been fired a long time ago" @HenleyMermaids Helia Ebrahimi, "This year Thames Water swung from a loss to a £75m profit.. It paid £195m dividends.. Debt is £15.2 billion.. Both CEO and Finance Director received bonuses £195k and £500k respectively" Why are bonuses being paid out when the company is in so much debt? Absolutely disgusting

@7691Toro @implausibleblog More to the point the debt should not be paid by the govt. Let the bankers realise that banking can be risky and they’ve list this bet.

@WhoCare08153333 @implausibleblog If they’re insolvent and can’t become solvent, let them go bust. Let the banks who loaned them so much because they were fireproof take the hit. Capitalism is about risk. Some you win some you lose. Bad luck chaps!

Taking them back into public ownership after they've been allowed to build up so much debt. Now the tax payer is on the hook. I'd be more impressed with Liebour if they used their massive majority to bring in legislation to stop public utilities accruing so much debt in the first place! They allow their donors to do this.

@FinnBrennan That's one thing, but unless we see a massive leap in wages, landlords are always going to eat up any wage rise. The main problem is private landlords.
