I'm losing my mind. I called a handyman to fix this one small hole. He had the nerve to quote me $600! For what?! A $20 patch kit from Home Depot? He's trying to tell me he has to 'cut a new square,' 're-tape the seams,' and 'paint the entire wall' to blend it. What a joke! Does he really think I'm that dumb?! He's just trying to scam me into paying for a full day's work for a 30-minute job.

@MensHumor People thinking a server should, get $20 for carrying $100 of food to your table... Even if you're there for an hour, how much time does that server spend exclusively looking after you? 10 minutes total maybe? If they're waiting 5 other tables, that's $120/hour...

@Pompytrunk @JamesMelville You would have to put in infrastructure to designate those roads that are suitable for 60/70 mph. Remember, what you are advocating for is that every road, including dual carriageways, that have the national speed limit signs be reduced to 30 mph...

@Hax_75 @JamesMelville Can’t just select some roads and leave others as you would have to put in infrastructure such as 30mph signs that have to be repeated every so often whereas you can just change the national speed. Not necessarily 30.

“Thousands of Brits have backed a call to halve the national speed limit from 60mph to 30mph on single carriageway roads.” This is absolutely ridiculous for so many different reasons.

@Pompytrunk @JamesMelville So, 30 mph for roads designated as "national speed limit" such as this?? I agree, some roads it isn't suitable, but that's not a reason to call for all "national speed limit" roads to be restricted to 30 mph - it's means better assessment is required

@JamesMelville Tin Hat on. 60mph is way too fast for a lot of these roads. Makes them dangerous for drivers and pedestrians. Cyclists must be scared out of their whits at times. Some roads nice and straight maybe ok but winding country lanes are better at 30 mph.

Maybe the non-English speakers need to take responsibility for communicating (or at least bearing the cost of communicating) with the very people you mention. Maybe through things like health insurance... Otherwise, a tablet is only £100 and Google translate is pretty good 🤷‍♂️
