Hayhoe Hops

I find it quite disheartening that the frozen US “fresh” hops are getting everyone so excited. You know we have actual fresh ones here? There are some great new British hops around at the moment, I brewed green hop beers in September with Ernest and Emperor, both mind blowing.

@MarshaOM We have 10 acres and are around 11 hours from Rhode island. Close by Canadian standards!

@MarshaOM This would typically be the halfway point of it for us, but the crop is a little earlier this year. We hope to be finished early next week.

The old hurdles of quantity, price, and quality no longer exist in local hop production. A viable ontario agricultural industry is dying on account of lack of brewer support. This reg could have saved many farmers. 2/2

(1/3) We've had an incredible eight years growing #onhops, but we've recently decided that 2020 was our last year of production. Bittersweet to say good-bye to a venture we loved dearly, but it’s time.

@Jason_Tremblay @Ben_T_Johnson @muddyyorklady @davidsunlee We've had a brewery do the exact same thing with hops. Buy a couple times, then place a large order and ghost. It sure makes you appreciate the good customers.

#OnThisDay 1948: "Father, mother, children, the dog, the newest baby and piles of household goods all set out for the pleasant and profitable business of hop picking." Newsreel reported on Londoners taking their annual hop picking holiday. A wonderful piece of social history.

@Lot17HopYard @TavistockHopCo @VQH_Farms @Old4thHops We ran centennial monday-wednesday, and switched to cascade Thursday. Cascade is right in the window, and Chinook not ready yet. Thinking we were a bit late on the centennial.
