Frontline feedback continues to drive meaningful product improvements across our national membership, and we play a key role in bringing those insights forward to suppliers. After our members raised concerns about look-alike risks and dose-extraction issues with @STERIMAXINC 's heparin 5000 units/0.5 mL, we worked closely with SteriMax to review the issues and support next steps. SteriMax acted quickly, securing Health Canada approval to increase the fill volume and update the cap to red, aligning with the existing product on the market. All SteriMax stock currently available reflects these improvements, ensuring members receive the updated, safer product. Members also reported look-alike risks with @aspenpharma's lidocaine with epinephrine products. With input from our Product Evaluation Committee, we collaborated on a revised label mock-up that Aspen adopted. The updated labels have now been approved by Health Canada, and Aspen worked quickly to get these improved labels, expected by April 2026, to members. These improvements highlight the impact of a strong feedback loop, where member vigilance, supplier responsiveness, and HealthPRO Canada’s coordination come together to strengthen medication safety nationwide. #PatientSafety #HealthcareCollaboration #MedicationSafety #SupplierPartnership #HealthcareQuality #CanadianHealthcare

This past weekend, HealthPRO Canada’s Senior Clinical Director, Dawn Jennings, and Clinical Director, Jon Cummings, attended the @CSHP_SCPH Banff Seminar for an inspiring weekend of expert insights, full-house sessions, and meaningful conversations about the future of hospital pharmacy. Events like this bring together pharmacy leaders from across the country and create opportunities to reconnect, strengthen relationships, and continue advancing the profession together. During the seminar, Jon had the opportunity to reconnect with former colleague Arunima Mirakhur, highlighting the strength of the networks and shared commitment that continue to shape hospital pharmacy. These connections help drive collaboration, innovation, and progress across the healthcare system. A special congratulations to Tania Mysak, Executive Director, Acute Care Alberta, member of our Pharmacy Advisory Council, for receiving the Dr. Kevin Hall Award for Excellence in Leadership and Administration. This award recognizes outstanding achievement, leadership, and excellence in hospital pharmacy administration. Tania’s career exemplifies visionary leadership, mentorship, and dedication to advancing pharmacy practice across Alberta and nationally through her long-standing involvement with the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP). At HealthPRO Canada, we’re proud to welcome a fourth-year pharmacy student each year for a placement with our Pharmacy - Product Quality team, offering a unique, behind-the-scenes look at how procurement and quality processes support patient care across Canada. Over the past five weeks, Marianne Rojas, a PharmD student from the University of Toronto, has been gaining firsthand insight into the operational and strategic decisions that help ensure healthcare providers have access to safe, high-quality medications. One of her biggest takeaways? “My experience at HealthPRO Canada has been very eye-opening. It has given me a distinct perspective on the operational and procurement processes that support patient care at a systems level.” During her placement, Marianne contributed to a project creating a list of moisture-sensitive medications under contract and gained insight into how pharmacists apply their hospital experience to procurement decisions. Today, we’re proud to recognize and celebrate Pink Shirt Day! This year, we’re sprinkling kindness through small actions, thoughtful words, and showing up for one another. 💗 To mark Pink Shirt Day, HPROs attended a webinar on bullying in the workplace, focused on recognizing bullying and toxic behaviours, strategies for addressing and intervening, healthy communication techniques, and creating and sustaining a respectful workplace culture. By choosing kindness, standing up against bullying, and building a culture rooted in respect and inclusion, we help create spaces where everyone feels valued and supported. Let’s keep sprinkling kindness on Pink Shirt Day and every day. #PinkShirtDay #KindnessMatters #SprinkleKindness
