As surgeons carried out a complex, high-stakes procedure, another team worked quietly alongside them, capturing every moment. Not for spectacle, but to document skill, pressure and the reality of what it takes to do this kind of work. See what it looks like when medicine and storytelling meet. willowhealthmedia.org/behind-the-sce…

Better care for patients begins with better support for the doctors who serve them. The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) is pushing for a 55% salary increase, the employment of 3,000 additional doctors to address critical staffing shortages, and the protection of medical training standards to safeguard quality healthcare for every Kenyan. Doctors cannot deliver world-class care while working under overstretched, underfunded, and delayed systems. Fair pay, timely remuneration, adequate staffing, and dignified working conditions are not privileges, they are essential to saving lives and strengthening our healthcare system. When we invest in doctors, we invest in patients. It is time to build a healthcare system that truly prioritizes life, dignity, and quality care for all Kenyans.

In celebration of Nurses Week, today marked a truly meaningful and impactful day as the KESSNUR National Governing Council, led by our leadership team, together with the Nairobi Regional leadership and KESNNUR members drawn from Nairobi and the Metropolitan region, came together at the Gatundu Children’s Home in a heartfelt act of service and compassion. Guided by one of our core values — giving back to the community — we spent the day sharing love, support, and hope with the children, reminding ourselves that nursing goes beyond hospital walls; it is about humanity, care, and touching lives where it matters most. We extend our sincere appreciation to our valued co-partners, led by the Director of Nursing Services, Kiambu County, for walking this journey with us and supporting this noble cause. Special thanks also go to the management of Gatundu Children’s Home for the warm welcome and collaboration that made the day a success. As we continue celebrating Nurses Week, today stands as a powerful reminder that nurses are not only caregivers in healthcare facilities but also champions of compassion and positive change within our communities. #NursesWeek #KESNNUR #GivingBackToTheCommunity #CompassionInAction #ServingHumanity
