@BadRedWolf @BMothabela @Arsenalnewschan You're either a liar or a fool who can't be bothered to watch the actual video of that incident. That screen grab that you guys have been obsessing about was taken before the ball arrived. The video from around 0:48 shows Bayindir was just weak

The foul on David Raya was obvious & is nothing like some of the goals Arsenal have scored from corners! Arsenal were pulled up three years ago at Leicester for holding the goalkeepers arm!! #MNF #WHUARS ⚽️📊
English

🗣️Wayne Rooney on some people challenging whether it was a foul on David Raya for West Ham’s disallowed goal vs #Arsenal at the weekend: “It is a clear foul. You're going to obviously get a lot of people saying they think it should have stood because it's controversial and probably all the City players, staff, fans are going to say it should have stood. And then you're going to get all the Tottenham fans, players, staff saying it shouldn't have stood and of course the Arsenal fans and stuff.
"But it's a clear foul. I think you can clearly see the arm crosses his face and it impacts him getting to the ball. So I think it's the right decision. It's the one time I actually think VAR has done a really good job in such an important game."

English

@Ashley_Payne95 @afcroyce I've watched hundreds , probably thousands of shirt pulls in the box over the 20+ years I've been watching football. Not once have I seen one that led to the victim pulling down the arm of the GK just as he was about to claim a routine cross.
Natural reaction to a shirt pull 😄
English

@Health_Baron @afcroyce Yes it puts him off balance? How is that hard to understand? Have you ever actually played football before?
English

They nearly gave them a pen instead😭😭
AB 🚥@afcroyce
Bro they released the VAR audio for the Raya foul and it was so much closer than I thought it was 😭😭
English

@Ashley_Payne95 @afcroyce A shirt pull is why he put his arm across Raya's neck and pulled his arm?
Head loss for the ages from Arsenal haters. Breathtaking.

English

@afcroyce They haven’t even looked at the Gabriel stopping Pablo from jumping with the shirt pull!? That’s why his arm comes across like that 😭😭😭
English

@MasterBolaji @GuvnorAde It's good in theory, but I can tell you quacks are killing people in their thousands in Nigeria right now because almost all of our new docs are leaving the country.
Nobody can stop anyone migrating but our parents who stay back will be treated by quacks when they're ill
English

@MDonoharm @pedroelchileno The truth is that they all mad because the West Ham equaliser 'hit like crack' and they had celebrated wildly, but got eggs on their faces when the goal was disallowed.
But they're all too dishonest to admit even to themselves that it's just about schadenfreude gone wrong 😄

English

@Health_Baron @pedroelchileno Exactly! Where have all these complainers been all year after every single match? They’re so disingenuous to only care in this one instance
English

I will try and explain it with detail, because people here are batshit crazy and don’t know the rules of the sport
1. There is a clear and obvious foul from the attacking team in Raya. The goal can’t stand in this situation and hence VAR needs to intervene.
2. VAR checks this and clear it, then looks for any other offence that could affect their decision making.
3. No other offences from grappling and wrestling in the box from both team look like a clear and obvious mistake.
4. Under the rules of the sport, even if you consider any other simultaneous action a foul (which they were not), they would use the following criteria do decide:
a) Which one happened first
b) Which one was more impactful in the play
c) who initiates the physical sequence
d) is the foul on the keeper obvious and significant
There is a blatant foul on the goalkeeper and a clear and obvious mistake by the ref that doesn’t allow the goal to stand and for VAR to intervene.
It’s amazing how people are reacting to these events, specially pundits.
English

@MDonoharm @pedroelchileno Absolutely. No one wants to see WWE moves in football. But since the PL or PGMOL decided that broadly, the grappling would be irrelevant unless they clearly impede a player from getting to the ball, we can't be changing the officiating guidelines in GW 36
English

@Health_Baron @pedroelchileno I’m all for the league cleaning up corner kick conduct. It has gotten ridiculous. But it’s ubiquitously ridiculous across the league. For people to whine that Arsenal are cheaters over this is pathetic and shameful.
English

@seanyboy0985 @Odumodublvck_ @KelvinDiorgu Here's another one to add to your collection. Every team does this, including whatever team you support.
If the ball does end up within reasonable distance of the GK, it is on him to be stronger than Semenyo to get to the ball. If Semenyo actually pushes him then it's a foul

English

@Health_Baron @Odumodublvck_ @KelvinDiorgu You think for example Saliba is ‘standing his ground’ in the Utd game at OT? What about Tossard against Sanchez? Let me guess both ‘Standing their ground’?
The ref didn’t call a foul Sunday, VAR had to intervene. Being sly shouldn’t be possible with VAR.
English

@seanyboy0985 @Odumodublvck_ @KelvinDiorgu The thing about blocking is that a player has a right to stand wherever he want in a corner kick situation. If that happens to be in the path between the GK and the ball, why would it be a foul?
Now players sometimes actually nudge the GK & that may be a foul. It's a fine line
English

@Health_Baron @Odumodublvck_ @KelvinDiorgu You want fouls for blocking fine but that has nothing to do with what I said?
At what point did it become only possible to foul a keeper only by grabbing his arm?
You’re making up rules as you go along.
English

@MDonoharm @pedroelchileno They really want a penalty for a grappling match that happened at the back post even though the ball was caught by the keeper or cleared by a CB at the near post?
Irrational lots
English

@Health_Baron @pedroelchileno The only explanation is that this is the first EPL corner kick they have seen.
English

@Jackson_ville00 @Odumodublvck_ @KelvinDiorgu Nowhere is that said in the laws of the game mate.
When defenders shield the ball out for a goal kick with no intention of playing the ball, is that a penalty too?
Players block other players from the ball all the time, you're just mad that your hate watch failed
English

@Health_Baron @Odumodublvck_ @KelvinDiorgu Bro, go and read the law of the game. Blocking a player without looking at the ball is a penalty to the opposition and this what everyone is saying. Arsenal have been doing this all season.
English

@seanyboy0985 @Odumodublvck_ @KelvinDiorgu An attacker standing in the way of a GK is not a foul because he has a right to stand wherever he wants to in the 6 yard box in a corner kick situation.
Teams know this and try to obstruct the oppoonent. The challenge is to do this slyly enough that the ref doesn't call a foul
English

@Health_Baron @Odumodublvck_ @KelvinDiorgu This narrative that it can only be a foul on a keeper if you hold his arm has come from where exactly?
English

@Magic_Sellz @Odumodublvck_ This particular picture that man U fans are obsessed with shows Salina touching Bayindir BEFORE the ball arrived.
If you play the video, you will see that his arms were unencumbered when the ball reaches the box. He just flapped at it because he's a weak goalkeeper 😄

English

@Odumodublvck_ Defoe with his spurs agenda. Because the Man U game early in the season we have not stopped a keeper from jumping. Even the united game that goal stood because the keeper was no were near the ball. If he was then it would not stand. Everyone should stop crying we finally get one.
English

@BMothabela @Arsenalnewschan Arsenal have not scored a single goal this season where they held the goalkeeper's arm down
English

@Arsenalnewschan Problem is we've had similar fouls committed by Arsenal in other matches nor ruled as foul but today it is a foul. Arsenal won this league by hook or by crook. So it is not a clean win
English

@thedonjazlfc @MartinWengrow @Jay_E01 1000s of rival fans denied it was a foul across the socials. It's barely 24 hours later and you people have started lying and revisionism.
Besides Arsenal don't grab ahold of the opposition GK's arm or put an arm across his throat when they score their corner kick goals
English

@MartinWengrow @Jay_E01 Is he stupid?!
Nobody denies that’s a foul, the outrage is about the inconsistency.
They wouldn’t be in the title race if challenging the opposition GK on corners was a foul all season.
English
