@donhutch4 Corner kicks have become group wrestling matches. PGMOL likely needs to convene in the offseason and communicate to all clubs new standards for what’s allowed. But they cannot, in week 36, award a PK for conduct that’s been allowable to all teams all season

Arsenal fans don’t need to make this VAR debacle about them. Nobody blames Arsenal for this, so stop being so defensive over this incident. We all want the same thing, which is a better standard of officiating in the Premier League. This isn’t about club rivalries.

@CatenaccioChris You sound like you’ve never seen a PL corner kick. The wresting occurs in nearly every match with any teams. I agree the league should announce and communicate (in the offseason) new standards for the upcoming season, but you suddenly want them to award a PK for it in week 36?!?

Says it all when every other clubs fans apart from Arsenal can agree that although there was a foul on Raya there was also multiple fouls committed by Arsenal players BEFORE the foul on Raya happened Correct decision would have been to disallow the goal and award West Ham a pen.

The weirdest thing about how this decision has blown up is that every pundit agrees it was a foul. Every pundit almost unanimously agrees it was the correct decision and yet they are still outraged by it. Make it make sense! #Arsenal

@MDonoharm @pedroelchileno Absolutely. No one wants to see WWE moves in football. But since the PL or PGMOL decided that broadly, the grappling would be irrelevant unless they clearly impede a player from getting to the ball, we can't be changing the officiating guidelines in GW 36

I will try and explain it with detail, because people here are batshit crazy and don’t know the rules of the sport 1. There is a clear and obvious foul from the attacking team in Raya. The goal can’t stand in this situation and hence VAR needs to intervene. 2. VAR checks this and clear it, then looks for any other offence that could affect their decision making. 3. No other offences from grappling and wrestling in the box from both team look like a clear and obvious mistake. 4. Under the rules of the sport, even if you consider any other simultaneous action a foul (which they were not), they would use the following criteria do decide: a) Which one happened first b) Which one was more impactful in the play c) who initiates the physical sequence d) is the foul on the keeper obvious and significant There is a blatant foul on the goalkeeper and a clear and obvious mistake by the ref that doesn’t allow the goal to stand and for VAR to intervene. It’s amazing how people are reacting to these events, specially pundits.

If you can’t admit to this, you’ve lost all objectivity
