While Powell also could be used, trading him for worse player and pick would reflect a change in philosophy of trying to maximize every season and try to pull an upset in playoffs.

There are 3 assets that can be used today for Ja or picks or any other distressed asset/good player that would leave the Heat with enough cap facilitating $$ to try to land a star this summer. Those assets are /Rozier/Fontecchio (impending UFAs) and Wiggins (player option). Even without those 3 contracts this summer, Herro/Ware/Mitchell or Jovic would be enough money to have the cap capability to trade for high-salaried All Star if they can land one this summer.

Stunned by volume of reaction on this. Explosive topic that seems split 50/50 among hundreds of you guys/gals. As I said, I would spend next few weeks calling every team trying to land any very very good player I could for non Bam and non Herro assets, then sign Beal if bought out and Lillard and try to contend ASAP. If that fails, I would then go nuclear and trade both your all stars for many picks, though that isn't happening.

One other Lakers/Wiggins/Heat thought: Now that Ayton has committed to Lakers, LA does not need to save its one remaining tradable first for a big. That in theory would make it more realistic for that first to be used for Wiggins (if Lakers choose to). If I'm the Heat, I don't do it without getting a first round pick OR getting a player (Knecht) who could be re-routed for a first. Having 2 tradable firsts (current predicament) likely isn't enough to try to pounce on disgruntled star via trade.
