@wauntie_ @Heraldofcreatio I also see them as a novelty, in the sense of something where you can play around with the original a bit. Whether that's adding references to a story that came out years later, or having a major play about with the format that gives you a whole new angle on the story.

@Heatherjw11 @Heraldofcreatio people to go back and experience the older stories, but nowadays i just see them as a novelty really (the new-who ones esp.), though there are some great ones that expand on the stories so i don't really mind if it's targeted towards people who've seen the eps before?

Finished this over the weekend. It has left me with a lot of questions. Matt Jones goes full Bronte giving us a framing sequence which is narrated by three characters. However, this device removes some of the tension for a new reader because you know who survives.

@ShadowElg It's just a bit of a Father's Day rehash in that sense. And doesn't commit to it so much.

How about an episode where the Doctor fixes something but it’s left a mystery what it was that caused everything in the first place Then later in the season there’s an ep where in the end it becomes obvious that it was the Doctors actions here caused the events of the earlier ep

Highlights include: everyone fucking hating Toby even before he got possessed, and Danny being insatiably horny for the whole story and even getting an erecrion at one point

Reminder that several stories take place in the middle of Dalek's Master plan, meaning that the story is actually even fucking longer.

@Heatherjw11 And frankly Tim Foley should be lauded as a genius for coming up with We Don't Talk About Mavic Chen. The episode of Dalek Eternity we ALL wanted to write.

And also there's a weird amount of prequels and sequels to this story.

Who becomes corporeal, gets old, transported to the Death Zone off to the side of the screen in The Five Doctors, meets Steven and 5 and tells them 'it's a long story' that she's alive now and not a pile of ash anymore.
