@CH_VOX there was no distinction between game and engine. apart from rendering libraries like renderware, but you can also use that for games nowadays. raylib and monogame are free

Everyone's too busy forcing UE5 to look like a 1998 engine. What they could do instead is just make 1998 engines, which were routinely created by teams of 1-2 people. Use OpenGL 1.2, people, it's still available, and your games will run at 5 trillion FPS while looking authentic.

Retro gaming is making a big comeback rn, but the true test is whether anybody will have the balls to craft new games using old tech. Devs are still stuck in the techshow mentality of the 2010s.

@impulsefilters @Bappening Elfen lied is still awesome? I like it a lot. It's just not at the same level as the point of comparision against clannad. Clannad is superior kamige kino.

@HedProtag it looks ugly as hell but i like that it looks ugly as hell its like endearing. but dont act like even the big connoisseur types and /a/ types didnt make fun of it all the way back in the 2000s, only recently they've reassessed that and now call it kino.
