@mangetelge Ja det beror ju på coachningen. Inte en spelare som når upp till sin nivå då måste det göras något.

@SwedishRumble Great insight, ty very much. Would a sale of a player like Rashford bolster the fundings for next season more than a sale of Ugarte although lets say they go for 30 mil gbp each?

💣The Q2 report is out, takeaways -- and how much can United spend in the summer of 2026 with CL football? 🔺News: -MUFC has raised proceeds of £39.4 million from the sale of future dated transfer fee receivables, anyone that plays Football Manager will recognize this ability, but it is a first (I think) for MUFC. -The revolving credit facility was increased to £400m from £350m -In January and February, repayments was made, resulting in a total drawdown of £215m and available, undrawn capacity of £185m 🔺The wage bill is at the center of things -- since United has reduced its wages significantly after the 21/22 season. United paid a total of £75.1m in wages during the second quarter. It is a little more than I expected -- but still the lowest figure for a second quarter since the 17/18 season (!) when £69.6m was paid (excluding the Covid season). This indicates that the total wage cost for all employees will be app. £300m, and of that app. £110m is paid to non-players, leaving app. £190m for the playing squad. This puts United very far behind the top 4 (Arsenal's player wage bill will be above £230m) and right in the same territory as Newcastle, Villa and Tottenham (£170m-£190m). In comparison, Liverpool's player wage bill was app. £300m in 24/25 and City's app. £308m. It is easy math that even with a 25% CL wage increase -- United wage policy is not competitive with City and Liverpool (regardless what the guestimates of Capology says). 🔺I said before the release that nothing would stand out in the report -- but one thing actually does. We have this season pocketed the same amount of match day revenue during 10 home games as we did last season during 15 home games. And last season in itself, included a big spike in income per home game vs the prior season. In plain english -- we are selling tickets (or tickets plus other hospitality services) for a lot more per piece this year than we did last year. And not by a small margin -- app. 35% more. The below graphics is from @ToeInTheWater1. Ineos and Ratcliffe are boasting about doing a lot of good things for United. Had the Glazers still been in charge, this season would have been a disaster and we wouldn't have a top training facility. With that said -- we are in the position we are right now because decisions made by Ineos and, especially, lack of support from our owners. But right should be right, Ineos has done a lot of good things for the club. But it is the fans that are picking up the bill for it -- not the owners bidding billions for Croquet teams on the other side of the planet. 🔺So how much can United spend this summer if the club qualifies for the CL? Even if it seems likely to price a lot of ordinary fans out of going to OT -- bringing in around £7.6m per home game in a year where we play in Europe and isn't knocked out in the first round of all cups -- will produce a record Match Day income by a wide margin for English football (and rank us just below what Real Madrid makes from the new Bernabeu). Even with a non-spectacular run in the CL -- counting on £85m which basically is what we get from just advancing from the group stage before being knocked out in R16 -- we could exceed a total revenue of £800m during 26/27. In addition, we will no longer be amortizing the transfer fees of Malacia, Casemiro, Sancho and Diallo and Casemiro and Malacias wages will of course be off the books. If we assume that Rashford and Hojlund are sold, that gives us the following outlook for 26/27. 🔺Applying the FFP rules to this -- we only need to look at UEFA's Squad Cost Rule, because it is the FFP rule that is the strictest (the PL's Squad Cost Ratio has an 85% threshold, and UEFA's threshold is 70%). UEFA's Squad Cost Rule is applied on a calendar year basis, as opposed to 1 July to 30 June which is the financial year of almost all clubs. This means that we will not get the full increase of a better season (albeit most of the CL money is paid before christmas) -- but at the same time, we will not get the full cost increase of big investments this summer either during 2026. This means that we -- not assuming any other sales than Rasmus and Rashford's options being exercised -- can spend a total of app. £340m during the summer of 2026 or if we look two seasons ahead, a total of app. £520m (if we spend 340m this season, we can only spend 180m next season -- but remember, this is only counting on Rash and Ras being sold). How is this calculated -- if our income during 2026 is £780m (assuming 80% of the CL money paid before 31 December 2026) -- we can spend 70% of that 752m plus our average profit on player trading the last 3 years, which would be 40,2m, on our squad. In other words our squad could cost 70% x 792m = £555m. I estimate that our wage bill for 2026 would be 306m, of which app. 80m is paid to non player and trainers personnel, and our amortization cost would be app. £199m. In total this gives us a "Squad Cost" during 2026 of app. £426m. Hence, our yearly Squad cost can be increased with 555-426 = £129m. The yearly cost for signing a 100m player to a 5 year 300k a week contract is app. 100/5 + 300k * 52 = app. £35m. This means that we could sign 129/35 = 3.4 such 100m players or in total spend ~ 340m (it is a fairly good rule of thumb, could sign 6.8 players for 50m each and pay them 150k a week just as well). 🔺How much is this impacted by further sales? When we sell a player, it impacts our finances in three (3) ways. (1) We don't amortize the players transfer fee anymore. (2) We don't pay wages to the player anymore. (3) We make a net profit or loss on the player trading. This has a big impact, the sale of Rashford and Rasmus improves our finances with 71m in total next season (this is included above). I also think we will sell Zirkzee and Ugarte, and Onana, if we can sell him. If we get £25m for Zirkzee, £20m for Ugarte and £10m for Onana -- that improves our result with another £45m (as shown below, i.e. 23m plus 16m plus 6m), and hence enables us to spend another £100m+. 🔺So how much will we spend? The above is how much we -- can -- spend without getting fined by UEFA. We could have spent another £150m at least last season. What hold us back is lack of cash. If we only spend £150m, we should make a big profit -- say at least £75m -- and be able to reduce the debt with that amount. But I don't think the owners will get that greedy. I would personally be surprised if we spend less than £265m. And if we sell both Ugarte and Zirkzee, I would bet on £300m. But with that said -- it is of course very "wage" dependent. The yearly cost of a 100m player on 300k a week is £35m. The yearly cost for signing Donnarumma for £30m and paying him 500k a week is £31m. The yearly cost for signing Rasmus Hojlund for £64m and paying him 105k a week is "just" app. £16m. In other words, the yearly cost of signing players like Yan Diomande, Baleba, Matheus Fernandes and the likes for "300m" is basically the same as signing players like Tonali, Anderson and guys like that for "200m". 🔺Don't hesitate to post any questions! And please like and retweet! ❤️

@slbsn Disagree. Clear signs of improvement. Significantly lower wages which will go down more this summer (Casemiro, Sancho, Rashford, Ugarte out for sure). Cl likely. Trainingkit sponsor imminent. All these factors plus the current state makes it a healthy business going forward

@Hedstal Too early to note any financial improvement. Still low on cash, reliant on this lower cost squad performing consistently (40 games is not the same as 55 games next season), issues with commercial renewals across the game, massive infrastructure outstanding.

🚨 Man United confirm that its lost Tezos training kit deal was close to £20m pa and still not replaced. Previously reductions in revenue stated as "due to changes in our commercial partner mix" without specifying Tezos.
