Using forecast values through April 17, spring-to-date is running warmest on record — or very close to it — across a huge swath of the country, literally from coast to coast. The vast majority of the country seeing a Top 1 to Top 5 warmest spring on record to date. Only the far northern tier looks even somewhat closer to normal. For most of us, this has been warmth on a historic scale.

My “anecdotal take” is wanting to use more data, not less.
You can choose what you want to believe. If you think it’s going to be that much warmer, go ahead and plant a citrus farm. Mother Nature will humble you very quickly.
People are too eager to say “the zones are changing” when nature has shown us time and time again that she will be unpredictable and brutal. 2021 was another great example.

@HeidlerNeal I’m not a fan of the 2023 map because of the data set it uses (1991-2020). It leaves out the brutal winters in the 80’s and also 2021. I wish they would use a 50 year data set instead of 30.
New map changed me from zone 7 to 8 and I disagree with that change.
