My neighbor decided my parking spot was hers. So I let her.
I came home at 11pm last Tuesday.
Tired. Hungry. Just wanted my bed.
And there it was.
A silver SUV in my spot.
Again.
This was the third time this month.
I walked up to her door and knocked.
She opened it like I was interrupting something.
"Oh hey. That’s my sister’s car.
She’s just visiting for a few days."

That $300 tow is the most expensive validation of your empty life I’ve ever seen. People like you are why nobody talks to their neighbors anymore.

Expired Tags, Closed Doors, and a Missed Email
Her car tags expired while the office was closed for a COVID quarantine.
She emailed them about it, but they missed the message. They gave her two weeks, though the office can’t legally take action if government offices are shut down for quarantine.

It was Tuesday.
Her sister "visits" every single week.
I nodded.
Didn’t argue.
Just took a photo of the car in my spot.
With the parking number visible.
Then I emailed building management.
Attached the photo.
Attached my lease that says "Assigned Spot #24."
Next morning I left for work early.
The SUV was gone.
In its place: a bright orange tow sticker.
Later that day I found a note on my door.
All caps.
"YOU’RE SO PETTY."
I wrote one back.
Left it under her door.
"Lease says assigned parking.
Not suggested parking."
Haven’t seen her sister’s car since.
Some people think rules are optional.
Until they cost $300.

Today, I was privileged to witness the surveillance aircraft promised for Oyo State land at Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan.
