@EmilyDrabs @MichaelRosenYes This is exactly what I love about kindergardens in Norway. It’s a free play. Mostly outdoors. And that until they turn to six!

@ArkDeFo @EthicalHour Can you name a rental that has accidental damage not covered by insurance but had penalty? And ozone clean does not clean only surface of smells. (Plus most of rentals don’t use that as the only option)

@HeleVaarsi @EthicalHour rentals charge damage penalties. ozone can be used to 'clean' which only blasts the surface of smells. these things are true.

@EthicalHour Rental is a monster in the making. It’ll be big brands only, squeezing out SMEs. No idea how many garments, customers or number of wears. Shorter lifespan on items. Not properly cleaned. High penalties for damage. It’s selling an emotionless, disconnected world.

@AnnaCupani It was not a good look in 2011 and is not a good look in 2021. Why would any organisation (even the ones who don't claim to support inclusion) still do that?

Can we just agree that asking in a reference letter how many days of sick leave a person took in the past 24 months and in how many occasions (!) is not a good look in 2021 for any organisation claiming to support inclusion? Am I the only one to find it discriminatory?

@ruthedance @LexyTopping Not even going to compare with Norway where I only had two children in childcare at the same time and I think I paid in a year what you pay in 3-4 weeks. And in Norway the average salary is around double of UK's average salary.

@ruthedance @LexyTopping So in Estonia (which no reason to argue even is a lot poorer country, but where average salary is half of the average salary in the UK) parents would pay less in a year for childcare for 3 children than you pay in one week.

I know a pregnant primary school teacher who is giving up her job for a flexible admin role because her wages won't cover childcare costs of 2 children under-3. Why do we just accept that in this country? Seriously - we can revolt for football, but we just shrug at this bullshit?

@LexyTopping The cost of child care is one of the reasons or even justifications for paycap. And that's why we just accept it.

@CH_Blog_ @EthicalHour I'd like to think we are not exception. @SiodaUk you would be happy to share as well if someone is really interested in what happens with your clothes when they can't be rented any more?

@HeleVaarsi @EthicalHour I think you might be the exception to responsible "end of life" processes for worn out clothing. I worked for a large, US rental company and we were tossing out tons and tons of fast fashion clothing that had only been rented once or twice, just wasn't "profitable" to repair.

@ethiqana @EthicalHour But wearing what you already have is not always an option. If you were not wearing baggy jumpers before then for example for maternity wear the attitude i'll wear what I already have, just won't help you.

@EthicalHour None of our clothes will be recycled before they are upcycled. We only buy unsold stock from our brands- we don't place any preorders as there already is enough clothes manufactured/being manufactured.

@EthicalHour First I think we need to get rid of this idea that when I take my clothes I don't want anymore to a charityshop then I have done the right thing! (Yes compared to throwing the clothes away you have, but that's it)

@EthicalHour If not planning to use long ore can't be used long (occasional wear, maternity wear, baby clothes etc)- rent instead of buying. Even buying 2nd hand wont help if you are not planning to really use the clothing item.

@EthicalHour @lara_tutton Oh yes! But then again what H&M was and sadly enough still is doing is actually not really transparency but a perfect example of greenwashing and giving half-truths/half-facts.

@lara_tutton @HeleVaarsi Very true, but also important to recognise that just because a brand is transparent doesn't necessarily mean they're ethical. It's a good first step, but we all saw how H&M greenwashed their ranking in the transparency index 👀 #EthicalHour

@lara_tutton @EthicalHour Transparency is the key- but not only about what are commonly talked about like- where do you actually manufacture and regarding materials but should be also- how big is your unsold stock, how many of your clothes are recycled before anyone ever wears them etc
