Respectfully, she’s not gay nor has she ever said to be gay. She just doesn’t like labels.
FWIW, I think that’s the power of the SL with Lisa. People realize new attractions to a different gender at all points in life. For Carla, it was at 49. It happens quite often. #Corrie

I actually think making Carla gay without any clues has ruined the character. I’ve never been a fan but knowing that eventually she is written to be gay has lost a lot of sympathy for the character in my opinion #ClassicCorrie

I'm sorry—you lost sympathy for a character you don't even like because she's been written to be gay?? You're homophobic, Hazel. Plain and simple. I'm not even going to waste my breath talking about the fluidity of sexuality and how we can discover things about ourselves at any age. Because clearly, growth for you has been stunted and ended at the tip of a man's dick. Maybe that two-inch worldview is your problem. Keep your sympathies—they clearly don't carry much value.
P.S. Carla isn't gay- and she hasn't labeled herself. But she's sure having a fabulous time with her women 😜😘

Carla’s journey is one of the things that made me love Swarla so much.
So, I always find it interesting how quick people are to comment on experiences they’ve never lived and how they turn on a character they love because of who they love.
Sexuality, identity, coming out… these aren’t neat, black and white journeys with “clues” along the way. For so many people, especially women, it’s layered, complex and often realised later in life. That doesn’t make it unrealistic, it makes it real.
Representation isn’t about ticking boxes or making things obvious enough for everyone else to be comfortable. It’s about people seeing themselves in stories, sometimes for the very first time, and feeling understood rather than questioned.
What might feel “out of nowhere” to one person can feel deeply familiar to someone else.
And that’s the bit that matters.
Because when people who’ve never lived it start dismissing it, critiquing it, or calling it unrealistic, it doesn’t just land as an opinion on a character. It lands on real people who’ve walked that path.
You don’t have to understand every experience.
But there’s something to be said for recognising when something simply isn’t yours to define🏳️🌈
