@PinkNews There are no “two sides” to this. No debate. No grey area. It’s cowardice. It’s hate. And it should be condemned loudly and unequivocally. And the fact he still stands tall through it all. He’s an absolute inspiration. 🏳️‍🌈

@soapcorriefan It's Just hate, Fran. They don't care to seek education for something they'd rather hate. Hatred is the weak mans only tool. Also, thanks. It makes me laugh every time I see it. ⬇️ This is me looking for Hazel and her peoples individuality. Homophobic sheep.

I'm sorry—you lost sympathy for a character you don't even like because she's been written to be gay?? You're homophobic, Hazel. Plain and simple. I'm not even going to waste my breath talking about the fluidity of sexuality and how we can discover things about ourselves at any age. Because clearly, growth for you has been stunted and ended at the tip of a man's dick. Maybe that two-inch worldview is your problem. Keep your sympathies—they clearly don't carry much value. P.S. Carla isn't gay- and she hasn't labeled herself. But she's sure having a fabulous time with her women 😜😘
Hazel Scrivens@Hazelscrivens

I actually think making Carla gay without any clues has ruined the character. I’ve never been a fan but knowing that eventually she is written to be gay has lost a lot of sympathy for the character in my opinion #ClassicCorrie

Carla’s journey is one of the things that made me love Swarla so much. So, I always find it interesting how quick people are to comment on experiences they’ve never lived and how they turn on a character they love because of who they love. Sexuality, identity, coming out… these aren’t neat, black and white journeys with “clues” along the way. For so many people, especially women, it’s layered, complex and often realised later in life. That doesn’t make it unrealistic, it makes it real. Representation isn’t about ticking boxes or making things obvious enough for everyone else to be comfortable. It’s about people seeing themselves in stories, sometimes for the very first time, and feeling understood rather than questioned. What might feel “out of nowhere” to one person can feel deeply familiar to someone else. And that’s the bit that matters. Because when people who’ve never lived it start dismissing it, critiquing it, or calling it unrealistic, it doesn’t just land as an opinion on a character. It lands on real people who’ve walked that path. You don’t have to understand every experience. But there’s something to be said for recognising when something simply isn’t yours to define🏳️‍🌈 Behave Hazel🤦🏼‍♀️

@JenniferD92 The confidence they have to comment on something they clearly don’t understand is definitely a choice🤦🏼‍♀️ The gif choice is class btw😂

Very true. I want to know though what she no longer holds sympathy for? The rape she experience at the hands of a man. Or, the miscarriage she experienced due to the Extreme stress a man put her under. Just two possibilities there, Fran. Love a good dose of homophobia on afternoon.

@philnelson77 Oh Phil, I’m so sorry. It’s such an awful disease. I lost my gran to it too, and it’s like grieving someone who’s still here💔 As for Debbie, what a loss to Corrie. But at the same time, it’s such an important story to tell, and Sue Devaney is absolutely smashing it🫶🏻

@soapcorriefan It's a shame I agree. It's a sensitive topic for me because I lost my Gran to it. In her last year I watched her fade. How do you feel about it?🫶🫶✨xx

Leyton Taylor deserved so much better. 💔 Queer stories matter because for people like him, who feel unseen, unsupported, and like there’s no other way out, they can be a lifeline. They show that you belong, you are seen, and you are loved. 🏳️‍🌈 I’m so sad this happened to Leyton💔
PopPulse@PoppPulse

💔 13-year-old Leyton Taylor tragically took his own life after facing relentless bullying at school for being gay 🏳️‍🌈and feminine, including having a boyfriend. Reports say he was made to do most chores at home and was even slapped the day he took his life by stepfather.

@br00ny89 What they did to these two is more unforgivable than what they did to Swarla. Have you read the books? They didn’t end like the show did 🙄

Absolutely, I think Carla of 5/6 years ago would be so proud of how far she’s come🥲 I’m with you on the no fixed path as well. It’s more like a mix of choices, lessons and doors, some good, some not so much, but all necessary in shaping us. Also as you said, maybe slightly less trauma for Carla would’ve been ideal 😂 And Jen, you need to read The Untethered Soul, if you’ve not already. Based on everything you’ve said, you’ll absolutely love it 🤍I’ve read it twice💆🏼‍♀️

It really is, Fran. Things I'd give to be loved like so deeply like that. I truly believe in timing and growth gained through life experience. What I could give someone today, I couldn't have given say 5 years ago. We've always known she has a really big heart. But without the hard work she put into herself would she have been ready for the love she feels for Lisa. Not sure I agree there is a certain path set out for any of us, but more so a lot roads to be taken and doors to possibly open along the way. Not all good, but not all bad either. Both, unfortunately, are necessary. Maybe not Carlas amount of bad life experiences though. Dear lord...

The “special memories”, Carla being reminded that her sister-in-law-to-be was killed in Underworld, on the day she was meant to marry her sister. What a way to celebrate your sisters misfortunes by having it in there🙃 But yeah, sure it’s so romantic😩It’s unbelievable how fickle people are, isn’t it🥴😂 Swarla deserved better than what they’ve been given since Becky comeback🤦🏼‍♀️

Carla's trauma again trivalised, many wanting wedding at Underworld as it's filled with special memories. Like when Becky told her best stay away from her home, Lisa needed to move on, stop hanging around, never had a chance, Becky saying herself & Lisa were meant to be🙄 #Swarla

I think people are finally starting to realise that the whole “Swarla romantic spring” was just another one of Kate Brooks’ little enjoyable rides. We’ve got Connie, Roy basically burning alive, and wait for it, Lisa can’t find her warrant card 🤣 This is the first successful lesbian wedding in Corrie’s history, and instead of joy, build-up, excitement… as we know we get a murder as the backdrop. I wanted better for Swarla. I wanted better for the representation. If anyone can hand on heart say there has to be drama on their wedding day to keep people watching… I’ll eat my hat. They’ve had four months to rebuild Lisa’s character, to give us depth, accountability, even a hint of remorse for not believing Carla, her supposed soulmate, over Becky. Instead, we’re stuck going round in circles. And this whole “you just don’t get Lisa, she was abused” argument is tired. We do get it. What you’re not getting is that the show hasn’t actually told that story. Manipulation? Yes. But coercion? That’s never been clearly confirmed on screen, has it. The way it’s been written is messy at best and misleading at worst. For people who’ve genuinely experienced coercive control and saw parts of themselves in Lisa or even Carla, that lack of clarity isn’t just frustrating, it’s disrespectful. It blurs something that, in real life, is very real and very serious. I think there needs to be a bit more understanding that not everyone is naive or obsessed with impressing people. For some of us, what Carla and Lisa’s story means and meant, runs much deeper than that. It’s about our own history, our experiences, and finally seeing parts of ourselves represented on screen. But whatever.

@soapcorriefan I too love Swarla. However, the intensity and excitement surrounding their relationship has dimmed. There are sparks of joy and romance and I am really looking forward to the wedding. What happens to their story after the wedding? Are we going to see less of them from now on? 🥺
