@SamSamuelCrane Much enjoyed Ep.3 of Sister Boniface last night but couldn't help feeling sorry for Colin by the end. Presumably, we shan't be seeing him again as he's now in gaol - unless, of course, he makes a daring escape?

@David_Oakes @TreesACrowdpod So sorry. The Ash is such a lovely tree with its untidy, weeping branches. I worry about my nearest - Yggy (Yggdrasil). I think he is under a preservation order but, sadly, that won't help him with Ash Dieback!

@David_Oakes @Natures_Voice Has anyone else noticed that gardens which are full of birds for 51 weeks of the year fall silent during the days of the Bird Watch? Is there a great migration planned by the fluffy and feathery for this week just to fool us humans? Better luck this year perhaps!

@David_Oakes Difficult choices! For 'Victoria' the 'Archery' scene with Harriet. For 'Cold Skin' (which was wonderful all through) there's the very scary scene early on when the monster is trying to break into the hut and doesn't come out of it very well! Obviously must watch it again!

So, I think 🌳🌲 are cool... Not just the woody bit, but the mass of cultural foliage we have decorated them with. Their folkstories. Their myths. (And the geeky botany bit too). So, I've made a podcast about them: treesacrowd.fm/56Trees Please RT, ppl need cool trees.

@David_Oakes @msimpsonian @MichaelGladis Loved hearing more about the Bird Cherry (Prunus padus) as I spent an age last month trying to identify the pretty, white-blossomed trees which were teetering here and there on the banks of my local River Alne. Shall look forward to seeing those black cherries come autumn!

Chuffed to be accompanied on this ep by 2 genuinely wonderful humans - @msimpsonian & @MichaelGladis. treesacrowd.fm/56Trees/ If you’ve not had a chance to listen yet, now’s the time. (I also heartily recommend doing it outside in the evening sun having poured yourself a G&T!)

@TreesACrowdpod @David_Oakes @sophiepavs @BeaverTrust @exitthelemming Another interesting episode! Thanks to David, Sophie and to Sam West for his beautiful rendition of G.M. Hopkins poem. Aspens do lend themselves to verse. Can't wander along the banks of a stream without muttering 'Willows whiten, Aspens quiver...' (Thank you, Tennyson).

@David_Oakes I should have been the same. It isn't easy for a writer to eradicate every tiny anachronism but you have to try and there's far less excuse for them these days with the wonders of the web. Like punctuation, I don't think many people think it matters!

Last night I dreamt of a regency swimming pool. There were ladies “taking a turn”, a man diving from springboard, it was full of affable, albeit watery, Austen. Asleep; the pedant in “dream me” was apoplectic at the mass of historical anachronism. I awoke, & remain, VERY angry.

@David_Oakes @WoodlandTrust Elms were once known as the Warwickshire Weed. Dutch Elm Disease practically wiped them out here in the 1970s; so sad, you rarely see one now.

@David_Oakes @OllieGuillou @bellahardy @alistairpetrie @Sarah_Mudd My sis has a large wild box shes grown from a sprig which, many moons ago, we cut from a box growing above the rock where Piers Gaveston (chum of Edward II) was beheaded on Blacklow Hill, Warwick,1312. Unlikely to be contemporary with poor Piers, I think. Amazingly spooky place!

@David_Oakes Loved all 3 episodes. I look out at 8 ancient Yews. They've no connection to our church but our lord took men from this town to the Battle of Crecy in 1346. Now wondering if these yews are old enough to have been grown for his bows!

And we’re off! Series T🌳ree! I’ve spent too much of the past few months putting these episodes together; a true labour of love for our arboreal guardians. If you could listen, share, review (or all of the above) - & hopefully enjoy - this podcast series, I’d be over the moon!
