Make a reply thread to SE's account featuring constructive criticism about how badly they've butchered Chrono Trigger in its re-releases since the SNES version, and it gets hidden as "sensitive" and "offensive content". It's like they don't want to get better.
Heliummy@Heliummy

@ChronoTriggerPR With Steam CT, you've done everything wrong. You butchered the visuals, the font, the UI, the English translation... If you'd done a decent job, it would've easily sold more than 2x what it has. But you've butchered one of the most holy games. You've butchered Chrono Trigger.

@ChronoTriggerPR Please read the message in the screenshot I've posted, and make sure to address this critical issue in any Chrono Trigger remake. This contradiction that was added in the DS version's new content means that CT's story could never have existed. It needs to be fixed.

@TRScott116 @codsfisher @mixedrealityTV @vr_mama @LukeRoss_00 Both an EULA & ToS apply to people using a product or service supplied by a company. Not to someone selling their own product to be used with that company's product. For CDPR to have a legal right to block 3rd-party software, it has to violate their copyright. Luke's mod doesn't

@TRScott116 @codsfisher @mixedrealityTV @vr_mama @LukeRoss_00 You absolutely can compare the copyright situation created by software dependency for one piece of software to another. But you claiming a ToS has anything to do with this tells me you don't know what you're saying. A ToS applies to the use of a service - which CP2077 is not.

I am honestly surprised by the hate @LukeRoss_00 is getting from parts of the VR community. This is someone who enabled VR experiences for games like Cyberpunk that we would otherwise never be able to play in VR. That takes enormous time, skill, and persistence. Wanting to earn money for that work is not outrageous. It is normal. His mods are optional. Patreon is optional. If the price is not worth it to you, do not pay. That is exactly how a free market works. Nobody is entitled to someone else’s labor for free. If someone made a better or free alternative, people would stop supporting Luke. That would also be fair. The reality is that nobody else put in that level of work. The copyright argument also feels dishonest. He is not redistributing assets or games. You still need to buy the original title. In fact, many people bought these games because his mods exist. I am one of them. If we start attacking people who are actually capable of making a living building VR experiences, especially when big studios refuse to invest in VR, then we should seriously ask ourselves where this community is heading. We should be thankful for people who move VR forward, not punish them for it. Sebastian

@codsfisher @mixedrealityTV @vr_mama @TRScott116 @LukeRoss_00 Think of it this way: If selling a mod designed to work with CP2077 violates CDPR's copyright (it doesn't), then CDPR are violating Microsoft's copyright, since CP2077 is designed for Windows, and requires it to run. Practically all software is dependent on other software.

@codsfisher @mixedrealityTV @vr_mama @TRScott116 @LukeRoss_00 And I just told you that CDPR's EULA & ToS are entirely irrelevant. That means it doesn't matter what they claim. CDPR has no legal authority to set terms and conditions over 3rd-party software that doesn't violate any of CDPR's rights - like Luke's mod. x.com/Heliummy/statu…
Heliummy@Heliummy

@codsfisher @mixedrealityTV @vr_mama @TRScott116 @LukeRoss_00 Luke's mod doesn't commercialize anything of CDPR's. To be commercializing something, you need to be making money directly off of it - indirectly doesn't count. Luke's mod is his own original IP, and he's legally entitled to sell it. CDPR's statement is just PR propaganda.

@codsfisher @mixedrealityTV @vr_mama @TRScott116 @LukeRoss_00 CDPR's ToS has no relevance to Luke's mod. Cyberpunk 2077 isn't a service, and Luke's mod doesn't involve using a CDPR service. And a ToS or EULA can't dictate terms on independent, non-derivative/transformative, software (like Luke's mod). CDPR are abusing their position here.

@mixedrealityTV @vr_mama @TRScott116 @LukeRoss_00 It’s not about stances though, you are framing this as if CDPR are somehow responsible for this. If he had read the TOS he would see exactly what he is and is not able to do using the IP. Every other modder, followed this, HE decided rules don’t apply to me and I’m charging

@vr_mama @mixedrealityTV @TRScott116 @LukeRoss_00 A ToS doesn't apply to 3rd-party software. And an EULA can't set terms over non-derivative/transformative, independent software (which is what Luke's mod is). Luke's mod is all his original work, which he's entitled to sell. CDPR's position on this matter is just a PR deception.

@mixedrealityTV @TRScott116 @LukeRoss_00 Yes, because TOS states that mods should never be pay walled and should be free to access. Aint that hard to figure out. A 2 year old could find that part out fairly easily

@Sabre9186 @TRScott116 @mixedrealityTV @LukeRoss_00 Not to mention Cyberpunk 2077, itself - which piggybacks off of Microsoft's Windows OS, as well as various other software. Nearly all software is piggybacking off of other software. And CDPR are doing the same thing Luke did with his mod. CDPR's position on this is 100% invalid.

@TRScott116 @mixedrealityTV @LukeRoss_00 Piggybacking off other's work is totally normal. What do you think a phone case is? A phone holder for a car? GameShark? Cup holder for your stroller. Any and all aftermarket parts. What about software makes it where it now *must* be free, or it's evil?

@TRScott116 @mixedrealityTV @LukeRoss_00 Whatever you think of Luke and paid mods, Luke's mod only monetizes Luke's mod - lawfully. You aren't commercializing someone-else's IP unless you're directly making money from it. Indirectly (like Luke's mod) doesn't count. CDPR's statement on the matter is a PR deception.

@mixedrealityTV @LukeRoss_00 If he was making his own game then he'd receive no hate, but he is making a profit by piggybacking of someone else's work and expecting a community of hobbyist to accept their hobby being turned into a profit driven endeavor.

@RapMapo @cisiel23 @ParadiseDecay Luke's mod doesn't commercialize CDPR's work. That's explained in my post you replied to. Since Luke's mod is his original work, being non-derivative (again, look-up what a derivative work is) and non-transformative, CDPR has no rights over it, and their EULA has no jurisdiction

@RinoTheBouncer @princeofpersia Sure, save it. But they have to restore the 2019 version's character models, and get rid of the 2025 version's models. They looked good in the 2019 version, but are ruined them in the 2025 version.

I mean, he was profiting off the mod, and CD Projekt essentially told him "Hey, make this mod free or we will take down the mod", literally within their legal right. It'd be like if the Fallout London modders charged you to play a modded Fallout 4.
IGN@IGN

The creator of the Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod has said that people are now pirating his mod to "punish" him for breaking the developer's terms of service. One person went as far as to say, "I'll just steal your mods from now on." For more info: bit.ly/4qQTsUR
