@HelloMcQueen If there is (and I've not yet seen it) then Starmer and co. should endeavour to explain it, rather than accusing anyone who opposes the Chagos give-away of being a supporter of Trump on the question of Greenland sovereignty

Labour is caught by its own double standards. One rule for the people of Greenland, another for Chagos. Just today, Starmer, Nandy, Cooper have all dodged the issue by pretending if you support the Chagossians, you must also support Trump on Greenland. This won't last.

#Pension contributions move up the priority list for 2026, @PensionsUK_ ..The start of a new year is the perfect time to reset financial goals. While everyday needs often take priority, it is encouraging to see people increasingly willing to take action... tinyurl.com/58apyyua

@HoskingTheTimes @walkhighlands Good challenge. There are few "pointy" summits in Scotland. Possibly Schiehallion in Perthshire. Landseer is known to have painted Schiehallion several times. Good luck!

@walkhighlands⁩. Quite distinctive ridgeline here. Can anyone please identify the hill? Or is it just imaginative?

The two-child cap pushed half of children in larger families into poverty. Today, Labour abolishes it. I stood for office to stop drawing charts and start changing them. This change will see the biggest drop in child poverty of any parliament on record. Know what that is? Hope.

No doubt this was a big budget - but not for the reasons that people expected. There was no big black hole to fill Taxes going up by £26bn - partly to build headroom; partly to raise spending Consolidation very back loaded ifs.org.uk/articles/autum…

Reeves says she will stop assessing whether she meets her fiscal rules in the spring, and only ask the OBR to make that assessment once a year - in the budget

Headroom back to close to the historical average at ~£22bn. This is one of the ways of escaping the speculative doom loop. It remains to be seen whether the Chancellor will add to this decoupling by moving to one binding forecast a year.

Ageing Better
Ageing Better@Ageing_Better·
To what extent have you ever thought about ageism in the workplace? In our latest Age-friendly Employer Pledge webinar all about culture we asked attendees and over 50% said often, and under 5% said never. An age-friendly culture is one where employees feel included and valued regardless of their age. People of all ages should feel valued and able to contribute at their best. That said, there are some specific issues affecting those in their 50s, 60s and beyond that need to be considered in order to establish a healthy culture. We know that ageism exists in society and at work. It is the most reported form of discrimination in the workplace. It exists in how we recruit, how we support development and even how we socialise with each other. It ignores the wealth of experience older workers bring to the workplace. Find out more with our culture toolkit: ageing-better.org.uk/employer-pledg… #AgeFriendly #OlderEmployers #OlderEmployees #Ageing #Ageism

10y gilt dipped below 4.4% for first time in 2025… The 2 & 5 year gilt - both now been below 4% for a month, actually below level when Labour came to power… this is filtering through to 2y & 5y fixed mortgage rates… driven by higher expectation of rate cuts given weaker jobs number, but also world away from summer headlines re IMF/ bankruptcy.
