Culturally, HK society saw palliative care as a privileged care inaccessible to pts with lower SES. Apparent also was the dichotomous standpoints on voluntary assisted dying, from local stories highly publicised, to dangerous language still used by experts "to kill or not to kil"

Local Presenters/speakers at the ASM collectively paint a picture of progressive readiness within Hospital Authority (e.g. one speaker said she took 3-year of campaigning to extend palliative care to pts w/ non-malignancy conditions, first in nephrology end of life care).

Tuning into HKPSM ASM 2022 today: Hong Kong does not yet offer Advance Health Directives, but advocacy is optimistic for its adoption to honour patient’s wishes soon. Something new even for me, who grew up in HK and had assisted paperwork of family passing away there. @APHPCN
