What is CashTokens? CashTokens allows anyone to create and manage digital assets (tokens) on Bitcoin Cash in a secure, efficient, and decentralized way. These tokens are: Fungible Tokens (FTs) — Like ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum. Identical units that can be divided and merged (e.g., stablecoins, governance tokens, loyalty points). Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) Unique tokens, each with its own identifier and data (commitment), useful for collectibles, certificates, or unique assets. Unlike the earlier Simple Ledger Protocol (SLP), which was an application-layer solution (similar to metadata on top of transactions), CashTokens are validated at the protocol level (Layer 1). This means the Bitcoin Cash network itself enforces the rules for tokens. Key Features & Advantages Extremely Low Fees Transactions with CashTokens are highly efficient and validated in parallel. Fees remain under $0.01 even during high network activity. Security Tokens cannot be counterfeited. Non-token-aware wallets cannot accidentally destroy them. Token validity is verifiable like regular BCH transactions. Opt-in — Regular BCH transactions are unaffected. Wallets and nodes don’t need to support CashTokens to handle plain BCH. Smart Contract Power CashTokens enable advanced decentralized applications (dApps) because tokens can be held and managed by covenants (smart contracts on BCH). This supports things like: Decentralized exchanges (DEXs) Lending/borrowing protocols (e.g., ParyonUSD) Crowdfunding Cross-chain bridges On-chain voting or sealed-bid systems Composability — Tokens can interact with contracts, enabling complex DeFi primitives while keeping everything on Layer 1. How It Works (Simplified) Every CashToken belongs to a category (identified by the transaction that created it). When issuing tokens, the creator defines the supply and rules. Fungible tokens can be split/merged, while NFTs remain unique with attached data. All rules are enforced by the Bitcoin Cash consensus, making it trustless and secure.c3a381 Why It Matters for Bitcoin Cash CashTokens help transform BCH from primarily a peer-to-peer electronic cash system into a platform capable of supporting DeFi and tokenized assets — all while preserving its core strengths: low fees, fast confirmations, and massive on-chain scalability. It’s one of the biggest upgrades to Bitcoin Cash since its creation, giving developers powerful building blocks without sacrificing the simplicity and efficiency that defines BCH.

@projectsolo Well said. ZK excels at concealing the transaction, but it leaves the human in the shadows. True progress needs dual rails: ironclad privacy and verifiable humanity. Different problems, indeed — and both deserve world-class infrastructure.
